High Holydays
Here's what's coming!
David Kaplinsky testing the sound system :)
Elul - The Final Count Down!
Please do read and enjoy the daily email, which has been curated by Rabbi Amy Levin of the Masorti Movement in Israel. Please take a moment each day to let the sound of Josh Sands’ Shofar call to you. And on Shabbat, let us take some time to dream what this new year might hold in store.
Let's hear that shofar blow!
And here's an Elul message from Rabbi Mikie Goldstein of the Masorti Movement in Israel:

Mobile Shofar Unit

Last Rosh Hashanah saw the launch of our Mobile Shofar Unit.

For his Bar Mitzvah project, David Lazarus visited our homebound members so they could hear the sound of the Shofar.

He now plans to perform this mitzvah for us again!
This year in the open air!

Please contact Gary Lazarus to set up your appointment
You can learn to blow the Shofar in one easy step!
Masorti Rabbi Chaya Rowen-Baker, of Ramot Zion in Jerusalem, teaches us how to blow the shofar in this wonderful video. While it's in Hebrew, Rabbi Chaya is so compelling and makes it so clear and easy, even kids will be able to do it! It's sure to help you get in the High Holiday spirit.
The Rosh Hashanah Seder

Last week at the JCC I taught a class about the tradition of the Rosh Hashanah Seder - the Sephardi tradition of eating special foods on Erev Rosh Hashanah and making blessings on them. Here are the notes of the class, which include the blessings of our own that we created. Please enjoy!
