Director's Report

Homecoming is Friday. Itinerary for the game can be found here. After this week we have one remaining football game in October and one in November. No practice this weekend for homecoming. Three more weeks until our first competition at Independence High School.

We have kicked off our annual fundraising drive with Vertical Raise and have already raised over $8500 in the first 24 hours. The majority of students have only entered 1-2 emails so imagine what would be possible if everyone did their part? Fundraising helps us to provide better resources for each student in the program. Thanks for your help.

Football Game Road Warriors Still Needed

We still need more RWs for TONIGHT'S football game! There are still quite a few slots left, so please consider lending a hand! No experience necessary, just come out and we'll show you what to do. You will have fun, make friends, and help the band with their show!

As an RW, you get to:

Enjoy the football game for free and get a front row seat for the half-time performance.
Bond with other RWs as you work together to get pit instruments and equipment on and off the field.
Familiarize yourself with the RW process for future games and competitions.
Enjoy discounted hotel rates when you volunteer at competitions.

The speed with which we move instruments and equipment on and off the field is one of the scoring criteria for the competition. Therefore, we need as many trained bodies as possible to push the pit and get the front drops ready quickly. Please consider helping now so you can be ready for the real deal. You'd be helping the band score and ensuring that your student's hard work pays off!

Homecoming Football Game Acalanes High school

Come Watch the Practices!

Every Wednesday 8:30pm, Saturday 3:30pm

At 8:30pm on Wednesdays, and 3:30pm on Saturdays when there's practice, you can come to the football stadium to watch the band and color guards perform their final runs before you pick up your students. Don't miss these shows, as they allow you to:

See the band's progress and what your student has been working on.
Appreciate your student's hard work by giving them an audience.
Take note of your student's positions while they're out of their uniforms. In uniform, they're hard to tell apart.
Enjoy their performance without a ticket. You'd have to buy tickets later to football games and competitions.
Meet other parents and make new friends!
Get your Band Spiritwear so that you're ready with your purple for competition days!

So when you come to pick up your student from practice, don't just wait by the curb! Come join us at the stadium! Your student will be happy to see you there!

Food Restrictions/Allergies?

Please fill out this food restrictions/ allergies form if your student is:

Vegetarian
Allergic to gluten, sesame, or soy

Our first competition is 3 weeks away, and we need to know about any food allergies or dietary restrictions that your student may have so that we can adequately prepare the meals they need during the competitions and overnight trips! Thank you!

Freshmen & Sophomore Parents: Join the Board

We need parent volunteers to serve as At-Large Board Members or Nominating Committee!

We have a significant number of senior parents who volunteer a lot, which means that next year, we will need new volunteers to take over their duties. Parents with freshman and sophomores - please volunteer and/or serve on the AFM board to help sustain this amazing music program. Email Soojin Hwang, president@amadormusic.org, if interested.

Help Provide Clean Water for the Shows!

We still need help cleaning and refilling water bottles for football games and competitions!

This is a job that can be done without a volunteer clearance. Simply take home a cooler filled with refillable, squeeze water bottles (17 water bottles per cooler), wash them in the dishwasher, and fill them with fresh, cold water to bring back to the next football game or competition. The band will thank you when they're thirsty and can't get to their own water in their uniforms!

LAST CALL for Overnight Chaperones!

Can you believe that we are already almost just over four weeks until our trip to Etiwanda? Thank you to those who have already signed up for overnights chaperones! We still have a few spots open and I wanted to reach out again to see if anyone would be interested in filling them. The district will happily email you your certification/training as soon as you sign up so you may get that done quickly.

Beer Pouring

This season's Marching Band ask is $1,400. If you need help lowering the amount, consider joining the beer pouring team. Beer pourers are a group of parent volunteers who donate their time to pour drinks at the Levi Stadium for football games and concerts goers. In return for their service, Levi Stadium donates at least $225 per pourer per event to AFM. Your beer pouring contribution can be considered your donation to AFM!
