What an awesome weekend! The spotlight was on our Children’s Department, led by Jan Moses and Justin Burney. The first big event was the “Cross of Canned Goods.” The goal was to create the largest cross ever made of canned goods! I’m sure they did just that! They constructed the cross with 2,408 cans of food (with your help!). The best part is that all the canned goods used to make the cross are going to the Chattanooga Food Bank to help families in Chattanooga. Thank you, GraceWorks Children!
Our second big event was the Fall Festival last Sunday afternoon. God gave us a perfect day; I heard from people who live out of state commenting on the beautiful blue sky. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon. The children had exciting new games, a slew of car trunks and truck beds filled with decorations and CANDY! Thanks to all who contributed, participated, served, and enjoyed!
Side Note: You may or may not have known that one of the animals in our petting zoo escaped Sunday afternoon and jumped over the fence, into the woods! Since I’m on the church grounds daily, I know that deer, turkeys, foxes, and coyotes live in the woods. I was sure the poor animal, a rooster, would be someone’s dinner! Guess what? The rooster came back onto the church property, was placed in a cage, and returned to the petting zoo’s owner. Can’t help but think about life in general. Sometimes, we think we’re finally free of our parents, church, and God, only to find that we are in the greatest danger we’ve ever faced. So, drive through the gate, come up the hill, and get back into worship this Sunday at 9:30!
