NEW: Assessment of Religious Knowledge (ARK test) March 27

The Archdiocese has asked Saint Agnes to help pilot and administer the ARK standardized test to students in grades 2-12. This assessment measures how well our students are learning the “head knowledge” of the faith: doctrines, dogmas, Christian/Catholic terms, moral teaching, etc. We will administer this test with paper and pencil in all of our Religion/Theology classes on Thursday, March 27. Students do not need to do anything extra to prepare and the results do not have any effect on their school grades. We will report scores once we’ve received them back from ARK in the late spring/early summer.

Here’s some more information:

Please contact Dr. Michael Adkins, Director of Academics if you have any further questions.

Aggie Parent Edits Book on the Saints & the Eucharist

Besides Our Lady, no one has loved Our Lord truly present in the Blessed Sacrament more than the Saints. But there have been some over the years whose particular passion was devotion to the Mass and the Real Presence. The Saints on the Eucharist--edited by Aggie parent Derik Mantel--will introduce you to those bright souls.

Jazz Honor Band Performs

On Saturday, March 4th, twelve students from Saint Agnes performed in the grades 7 & 8 and 9 & 10 Jazz Honor Bands for the Southeast Region of the Minnesota Band Directors Association. This was the most students from any one school in the region. They worked hard in a full day of rehearsals and sectionals with a performance at the end of the day.

High School Band Takes Trip to UW-Eau Claire

The high school band went on a trip to University Wisconsin-Eau Claire to have a clinic with Dr. Philip Ostrander and a master class with the great jazz pianist and two-time Grammy winner Geoffrey Keezer. The band stayed overnight in Wisconsin Dells at the Wilderness Resort. One of the school buses broke down just outside of Eau Claire. Luckily, we all fit into one bus (except for the instruments). Within minutes after we pulled off the highway, a manager from the local bus company was driving by and stopped to offer help. He had his bus mechanic come to fix the problem so we could be on our way. All-in-all, it was a great trip and great story.
