Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

I love Holy Week and the reminder that we have a Savior. Leading up to this week, our students have received Reconciliation and participated in the Stations of the Cross.

We will meet in-school families this Thursday for our traditional Agape Service commemorating Jesus’s last supper. While sharing our bread and wine (crackers and juice), we’ll talk about Jesus’s love for us and our part in his community. We’ll listen to holy music and quietly remember what Holy Week and Easter Sunday are about. It is a very special time for us with our school families.

I hope our families have a safe and holy Easter break. May Easter flowers, bunnies, and chicks fill your homes and Jesus’s love for you fill your hearts.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

PurpleStride Walk

Dear St. Philip the Apostle Church and School Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we remember our beloved Fr. Joe Moniz, who passed away in September 2024 from pancreatic cancer. This loss is compounded by the passing of his younger brother, Avito, who succumbed to the same illness less than a year before him. Their lives and legacy remain deeply cherished within our community.

In honor of Fr. Joe and Avito, the Moniz family invites you to join them for the PurpleStride Walk on April 26th at the Santa Monica Pier. This event raises awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research and patient support, and we hope you will walk with us to celebrate and share the memories of these two remarkable men.

The walk is open to all, and registration is free. To sign up, please join The Moniz Legacy team here. It would be our honor to have the St. Philip the Apostle Church and School community join this walk and to hear how Fr. Joe impacted your lives in his 20+ years serving the St. Philip the Apostle community. Your presence will be deeply appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you there as we come together to honor Fr. Joe and Avito’s legacies and continue the fight against pancreatic cancer.

With love and gratitude,

Ryan Moniz (moniz.ryan.j@gmail.com) and Lauren Moniz (laurenmoniz0@gmail.com) (Fr. Joe's Nephew and Niece)
