AmazonSmile – An Easy Way to Donate
By:  Sherrie Hill
Do you ever shop on Amazon.com?
If so, please consider using AmazonSmile instead and supporting Christ Episcopal Church with charitable donations from Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) is a simple way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. Amazon has chosen to give back to communities by donating 0.5% on all eligible purchases when items are purchased on the AmazonSmile website. Note that there are no charitable contributions if the items are bought on Amazon.com.

Do purchases cost me more if I buy them on AmazonSmile?
No! The items cost the same. The shipping will cost the same as it would if you shop on Amazon.com. The only difference is that Amazon will donate a small percentage to our church for each eligible purchase.

Which items count towards donations?
AmazonSmile is basically a clone of Amazon.com. All items on the AmazonSmile site will yield a donation towards the charity that you have selected.

On the regular Amazon.com site, any item marked with “Eligible for Amazon Smile Donation” will count towards donations for the church. However, you must buy the item on the AmazonSmile website for the church to get the donation. Note that items you have setup as subscriptions do not count towards charitable donations.

Why should I bother if the donation percentage is so low?
The percentage of your sale (before tax) is low at 0.5%, but every little bit adds up…especially if more of us are using AmazonSmile with the church as our charity of choice. How effective will it be? There is no way to know unless more of us start using it!

How do I set it up?
Go to the AmazonSmile website (smile.amazon.com) and login using your Amazon login id and password. Then click on the “Supporting” link in the menu bar just under the AmazonSmile logo, which is in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
On the Your AmazonSmile Impact page, click on the Change Charity button in the upper right-hand side of the screen.
In the Search box, type Christ Episcopal Church Cedar Park, then click the Search button. Note you can also choose to type in: Christ Episcopal Church, but you will need to search through the list to find the Cedar Park location.
On the next screen, confirm that you have the Cedar Park, Tx location. Then just click the Select button and you are all set!
We are not asking you to buy items from Amazon. However, if you are already planning on making a purchase from the Amazon.com website, we do ask you to consider using AmazonSmile instead. Hopefully, we will see an AmazonSmile donations line item on our next annual financial report!
New exterior and interior locks will be installed in all buildings at church on Wednesday May 5th. After that date your old keys will no longer work and you will need to use your new keys.
Don't forget - confirmation classes are being held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the youth room, Family Life Center on Sundays. Adults and those confirmed in other traditions who would like to be received or reaffirm their baptismal vows are invited to attend this class as well. Please remember the classes will be a hybrid event (in-person and virtual). In person teens / adults will be required to wear masks and keep social distancing.
