Nonpublic School Aid Rally 5/7
As you are probably aware, our governor has proposed a budget for our state that, if approved, will defund nonpublic pupil aid to the tune of over $50 million each year, or $540/student. Here at Saint Agnes, that translates to the elimination of roughly $342,000 in funding for essential services like testing, textbooks, counseling and nursing services, and busing/transportation.
Please contact your local legislators to ensure that this budget does not get approved.
Additionally, the Minnesota Catholic Conference and MINNDEPENDENT are hosting a Nonpublic School Advocacy Day and Rally on Wednesday, May 7th from 9AM-4:30PM, with a rally in the Capitol Rotunda at 1:30PM. Given our school’s proximity to the Capitol, it would be great if you could be present to advocate for your students’ access to essential services and to speak with your legislators in-person. We’re hoping to have a representation of our student body at the rally that day, as well.
To learn more not only about the event, but about nonpublic pupil aid, please consult the attached PDFs below or visit the Minnesota Catholic Conference’s website: https://www.mncatholic.org/rally25

Lower School Director Update
I am pleased to share that Mr. David Gockowski will be joining our administrative team as our new Lower School Director for the 2025-26 school year. For those of you who were not here three years ago, David was a long-time 4th grade teacher in our school before taking a job working for the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education (ICLE) out of Denver, CO. Even as he left our employ, his children remained students in our school. While employed by ICLE, he spent the last two years helping schools across the country (and internationally) embrace classical and liberal arts curriculum and methodology. During his time at Saint Agnes School, he completed his certificate for Catholic School Leadership at the St. Paul Seminary. When he wrote to me, he stated, “I have had the privilege to grow in love for Catholic education and knowledge through my work at the Institute for Catholic Education, and I am eager to bring what I have learned to lead the Lower School students, faculty, and families in the Church’s vision of education.”
We are pleased to work with someone of Mr. Gockowski's witness and experience, his deep commitment to Liberal Arts/Classical Catholic education, and his ability to lead and form elementary-aged children into people of faith, reason, and virtue! Please join me in welcoming David back as Lower School Director!
Over the final month of this school year, please also join me in continuing to thank Mrs. Miriam Naughton for all of her work to help make the Lower School what it is today. We have been immensely blessed by her presence and wish her nothing but the best!
