Do you want to help advance NASPGHAN’s mission?.

Applications are now open to serve on the NASPGHAN Foundation Board of Directors.

Are you interested in advancing pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition through research, education, advocacy, and philanthropy? The NASPGHAN Foundation is accepting applications for approximately two Board Member Positions on the Foundation Board of Directors.

Foundation Board members provide strategic leadership, support fundraising and donor engagement, and help advance the Foundation’s mission. For the 2027 open positions, the Foundation is currently seeking approximately two NASPGHAN members with expertise in Nutrition, Procedures/Endoscopy, Luminal GI, Health Equity, and Pancreatology. The Foundation is committed to inclusive representation across the pediatric GI community in North America. Applications from members practicing in Canada and Mexico are strongly encouraged.

These members will serve a three-year term and work collaboratively with Foundation leadership to raise support and strengthen the impact of Foundation programs and initiatives.

Evaluation and Management of a Post-Surgical Patient with Hirschsprung Disease: It Takes a Village and Intricate Teamwork

The 60-minute session will address common long-term complications and provide practical guidance from pediatric GI, motility, and colorectal surgery experts, followed by an interactive Q&A.

New Pediatric Liver Transplant Guideline Featured

GI & Hepatology News highlights the new AASLD-NASPGHAN-AST guideline on pediatric liver transplantation.

Developed by experts across the three organizations, the guideline includes 90 evidence-based recommendations addressing referral, evaluation, transplant candidacy and long-term care.

The updated guidance emphasizes earlier referral, standardized multidisciplinary evaluation, equitable access to transplantation and individualized decision-making to help improve care and outcomes for children with advanced liver disease.

Hands-On Endoscopy Skills

Physicians and fellows attending the 2026 Annual Meeting can now pre-register for 30-minute hands-on endoscopy skills sessions, offered Friday October 23, 12:00 - 2:30 PM and again Saturday October 24 from 12:00–2:30 PM.

Available skills include clipping, argon plasma coagulation, coagulation, polypectomy, balloon enteroscopy, and cold snare techniques. Space is limited, and Annual Meeting registration is required.

Applications Open for the 2026 NASPGHAN DEEP Program

Build confidence as an educator and presenter through NASPGHAN’s interactive professional development program! Now in its third year, the DEEP Program has helped more than 40 graduates strengthen their presentation skills, build confidence as educators, and prepare for future speaking opportunities.

Session One: Development and Delivery of a Dynamic Presentation

August 12, 2026, at 7PM ET

Medical education experts, including members of the NASPGHAN Medical Education SIG, share best practices for preparing and delivering effective presentations.

Session Two: Practice Delivering a Dynamic Presentation

Participants are divided into small groups led by expert facilitators. Each participant will deliver a brief presentation and receive constructive feedback from the facilitator and fellow participants.

Session Three: Applying Your Skills - Reflection and Next Steps

Participants come together to reflect on what they learned, discuss how they applied their new presentation strategies and share insights from their small-group practice sessions.

Take Action in Support of the Cure Hepatitis C Act

Yesterday, July 28, was World Hepatitis Day, creating an opportunity for health care professionals to raise awareness of hepatitis and its link to liver disease and to encourage hepatitis testing. Urging policymakers to prioritize hepatitis testing and treatment is an important action that NASPGHAN members can take today.

Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Diana DeGette (D-CO), Don Bacon (R-NE), and Hank Johnson (D-GA) have introduced legislation, the Cure Hepatitis C Act (S. 1941 / H.R. 9682), endorsed by NASPGHAN that:

authorizes a new Hepatitis C Elimination Program;
creates an innovative purchasing model for direct acting antivirals; and
establishes the infrastructure necessary in communities across the country to support a test-to-treat program to ensure that more people are diagnosed and linked to treatment at no cost.

Children enrolled in Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) would be among the covered populations who would be eligible to access hepatitis C (HCV) treatment at no cost. Because pediatric patients with HCV are often reliant on public insurance programs, this bill ensures equitable and uninterrupted access to life-saving therapies during critical windows of early childhood.

Take action today and ask your members of Congress to cosponsor the bill.

Final Reminder: CPNP Scholarship Applications Deadline is Soon

The deadline is here for two Council for Pediatric Nutrition Professionals (CPNP) scholarship opportunities supporting attendance at the 2026 NASPGHAN Annual Meeting and CPNP Nutrition Symposium in San Diego. If you work with pediatric dietitians or dietetic interns, please help ensure eligible colleagues and trainees are aware before applications close.

CPNP Travel Scholarships provide a $500 travel stipend for eligible pediatric dietitians to attend the CPNP Nutrition Symposium (October 23–24). Current CPNP members (with 2026 dues paid) and eligible non-members may apply. Dietetic students are not eligible for this scholarship and are encouraged to apply for the Teaching and Tomorrow Program instead. Application Deadline: August 2 – Learn more and apply. The CPNP Teaching and Tomorrow Program provides up to 10 dietetic interns/students with the opportunity to attend the NASPGHAN Annual Meeting and CPNP Nutrition Symposium while connecting with mentors and exploring careers in pediatric GI nutrition. The scholarship includes meeting registration, hotel accommodations, meals, and local transportation. Application Deadline: July 31 – Learn more and apply. Supported in part by Abbott Nutrition.
