A MESSAGE FROM
Brother Bill
Imagine your trip to church this Sunday…
First, you turn off Lee Highway onto Grace Way. As you enter the gates, you notice the landscaped area on your right. You see the initials GW, spelled out in liriope (“monkey grass”). Then, you notice that the shrubs have been trimmed and fresh mulch has been added. As you continue up the drive, you notice the freshly mowed lawn; you can’t help but notice the fence line has also been cleared. You may not drive around the church building but, if you did, you would notice how nice the playground looks – no weeds and fresh mulch has been added. These things didn’t just happen! Don and Maxine Trotter spent a lot of time and sweat at the front gates, building on work done earlier by Brian and Lynn Buxton. The grass is cut weekly by Chad Hammond every Friday. The playground was given a makeover by Lucille Dietrick. Thanks to these wonderful folks and several others for their work to make our campus more beautiful. As I took my dog, Howard, for a walk this week, I thanked God for the dedication of these devoted individuals. Tell them “Thanks” this Sunday.
There are many ways for you to get involved even if you’re not a gardener! If you’d like to do something, put your name and phone number on a piece of paper and hand it to one of our ministers this Sunday. I promise you we will get in touch and get you involved in some capacity at GraceWorks.
As Tony’s sermons have focused on the world situation, there’s something you can do. When it comes to political, theological, and moral issues, don’t aggravate the situation by arguing for your opinion and ridiculing others; that doesn’t help. It actually may drive people further away. Share your opinion when asked; then, let God change the minds and hearts of others! If He can’t, we’d be fools to try. Jesus always gave people a choice: let’s do the same, even if their choice is different than ours.
In each of the three above paragraphs, the same principle is at work: Grace Works. If we extend grace, it will make a difference. If we have received grace, let’s work to demonstrate our gratitude.
