Thank you to all who attended last Thursday’s Community-In-Unity event under the rotunda at City Hall. It was the largest CIU in the last 5-years. The Chamber Ambassador’s and staff did a great job of organizing and executing a fun filled Holiday celebration. It was great to see so many people who came in the spirit of unity and understanding that together we are our strongest.
There are many changes and challenges coming to our community next year. This isn’t new and we’ve risen to meet these challenges before. It doesn’t take away the seriousness and need to learn from our past in an effort to stop the cycle of repetition and find long-lasting solutions to our challenges.
This is a powerful business community. We are even stronger when in alignment and we are very capable of working through our challenges. Let’s unite in the spirit of the Holiday’s and see what great things we can do this year. A business community in unity!
Congratulations goes out to the Elizabeth Hospice based here in Escondido on the news of their purchase of new offices. Cushman & Wakefield has brokered the $8.1 million sale of a freestanding office/medical building located at 800 W Valley Pkwy here in Escondido. Don and Nick Zech of CDC Commercial Inc. represented Elizabeth Hospice.
Well done Ken Lounsbury in addressing the Escondido Noontime Rotary about the history of and great work being done by the Escondido Community Foundation this past Tuesday. Trudy Armstrong the Associate Vice President of the San Diego Foundation and Jack Raymond one of the founding members of the San Diego Foundation were on hand as were many others.
The following was taken directly from the agenda as posted for this evening’s City Council meeting:
- The City Council does declare and determine that Consuelo Martinez was elected by voters in District One as Member of the City Council for the full term of four years;
- Joe Garcia was elected by voters in District Two as Member of the City Council for the full term of four years;
- Dane M. White was elected by voters in Citywide as Mayor for the full term of four years;
- Measure E did not pass;
- Measure F did pass;
- and Measure G did pass.
All three of our newly elected representatives will be sworn in today. The Chamber congratulates Consuelo Martinez, Joe Garcia, and our new Mayor Dane White. We look forward to working with you all.
We’d also like to say thank you for the service given to the City by Tina Inscoe who chose to leave the Council. Tina’s unselfish service to this community is evidence of all that she has done to make Escondido a better place to live.
And of course, a sincere thank you goes to our outgoing Mayor Paul McNamara. Paul’s leadership and service to his country and community is unquestioned and we here at the Chamber have enjoyed the opportunity to work together.
Cheers, JR
