Hebron's Got Talent Friday Night!

Our 5th annual showcase will take place this Friday, February 2nd at 6:30 pm at the RHAM High School Auditorium. Ten acts, ranging from singing to dancing, will perform to compete for the $250 grand prize! Local celebrity judges including last year's winner, Jonathan Farrington, a musician and singer from RHAM High School, as well as local celebrity, Cassandra Go, will provide their comments on each act but ultimately, the winner is selected by your audience vote! Cassandra is a past New England Patriots Cheerleader cheering at Super Bowl XLVI, featured in two swimsuit calendars, chosen to be on the cover of one and made her TV debut in a national commercial in 2012. She has also danced for the CT Sun's WNBA and dance captain and choreographer for the NLL New England Black Wolves. Cassie has won numerous championship dance awards and has worked professionally as a performer, choreographer and promotional model.  Tickets are $8 each or $25 for a family of four and can be purchased at Ted's IGA Supermarket, Hebron Parks & Recreation, AHM Youth and Family Services, the Gilead Congregational Church or at the door. All proceeds benefit the children's scholarship programs of Hebron Parks & Recreation and AHM Youth & Family Services because every child should have the opportunity to explore and grow their talents and abilities! Snow date is Friday, February 9. We hope to see you there! This event is sponsored by the Gilead Congregational Church Board of Missions.

Gilead Helping Hands Takes on the Dudley Project

Members of our Gilead Helping Hands had a busy weekend assisting the Dudley family with the following:
  • Moved ½ cord of split wood from garage to an area closer to the house.
  • Removed three truckloads of trash, two gas grills, and one washing machine to the dump.
  • Repaired a broken pipe that discharges water from the washing machine.
  • Installed plastic sheeting on the porch windows to improve insulation.
  • Washed dishes in the kitchen.
  • Replaced hinges on shed door.
  • Removed latch so chest freezer door can now open.
  • Sprayed silicone on tracks of sliding glass door between the kitchen and the porch.
Still pending are repairs to the radon evacuation unit and a variety of critical safety repairs to their car. If you would like to lend a hand on this project or become involved on future GHH projects, please contact Deb Meincke (debmeincke@gmail.com).

Thank Yous

Dear Pastor Denise,

Thank you so much for the beautiful Baptism for Anna. It was such a special service and we are so grateful for all of your support along the way. Thank you for taking the time to personalize the service and for getting to know Anna and our story. Both sides of our family loved attending the Church and I'm sure you'll see some of them there in future services.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Laura, Jeremy and Anna Zurell

Dear Denise and Gilead Congregational Church,

Thank you so much for the beautiful prayer shawl and all of the prayers woven into its threads. I can feel the love and warmth when it's wrapped around me. It helped greatly to know you were all thinking of me the past weeks.

Much love,

Cassidy Olio

Dear Good folks at Gilead Congregational Church,

Many, many thanks for the absolutely gorgeous white prayer shawl you sent to me as I recover from a stem cell transplant. It is a work of art, and I feel the prayers it has been steeped in.
Prayers and love and light sent by others have meant a lot to me over the past three weeks. I know I have a bit of a long road ahead of me as I get back into good health. I am absolutely leaning on the love sent my way. Again, many thanks to your prayer shawl ministry for this beautiful, thoughtful gift.

Love,

Jane Carroll

Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Week
Mark 1: 29-39

Loving God, as you once healed a woman with fever through your son, Jesus Christ, heal those who suffer from illness of any kind.  Soothe those whose bodies ache and calm those with fevered minds.  Cast out the demons of addiction and abuse, and help us to proclaim the message of wholeness that you have taught us through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
