Sabbatical Plans: Family, Faith,

and the Future of EDSD

By: Bishop Susan Brown Snook

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been your bishop for almost exactly six years now. I arrived here in San Diego to begin my new work on May 5, 2019, and was ordained as bishop on June 15, 2019. It has been a wondrous journey, full of surprises (pandemic, anyone?), challenges, unexpected grace, and the joy of seeing big visions become reality. I give thanks to God each day for the honor of serving God, the church, our congregations, and all of you in this ministry. God is doing great things in EDSD.

Now, after six years, I am planning a sabbatical. My letter of agreement allows me a four-month sabbatical after six years of service, but after discussion with the Standing Committee and Executive Council, I plan to take two months this year and two months in a future year. I will be away from July 4 through September 7 this year. Read More

Prayers for Diocesan Youth Delegation to Ecuador

Please pray for the EDSD Youth Delegation to Ecuador while they are on their mission of friendship and service to Ecuador. They will be traveling from June 18-26.

Holy God, Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, we pray for the youth and chaperones

on their service and friendship mission to Ecuador.

Keep them safe in body and spirit while they are abroad.

Bless them with patience and connection, guide them with wisdom and humility, and partner with them as they grow in their love for you

and the neighbors they do not yet know.

We pray for each of them by name:

Brayden, Callum, Charlette, Jack, Jacob, Julia,

Leighton, Maggie, Melina, Oumnia, and Sofia.

Remind them that our prayers and our love are with them

as they use their hands and their hearts to do your work in the world.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Healing & Fear - Proper 7 with Faith to Go

As we journey into Ordinary Time, Charlette and David guide us through this week’s Gospel reading from Luke 8:26-39. With reflections on things that make us uncomfortable in our communities, they invite listeners to consider how this passage speaks to us in this sacred season.

Faith to Go: Ordinary God Sightings

Faith to Go invites you into a simple, transformative practice this Ordinary Time: noticing God in the everyday. “Ordinary God Sightings” is a daily spiritual check-in rooted in an Examen. Each evening, pause and ask: What moment today am I most grateful for? What do I need to release? Where did I encounter God? Download a free postcard-sized guide, tune in weekly to the Faith to Go podcast, and share your God Sighting online with the diocese. Read More
