Sowing Seeds of Hope

"As for the seed in the good soil,

these are the ones who, when they hear the word,

hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance."

Luke 8:15 (NRSV)

Who has sown seeds of hope in me?

In whom have I sown seeds of hope?

Stewardship Letter from Rev. Roger

Stewardship Reflection

My time at St. John’s with Helena Livingston.

I was brought up Roman Catholic. The first church and school my sisters and I attended was St. Mary’s Cathedral in Wrexham, North Wales, built in 1867. We emigrated to NY in 1960 where we attended St. Bartholomew’s where we were under the watchful eyes of “black belt trained Dominican nuns”. My husband and I moved to San Diego in 1976. Our daughter Kristin went to St. John’s school and was married by Father Keith. Her children Drew and Sydney were baptized here, attended Sunday School and were both Acolytes. You will remember Drew as the little boy who used to run up the middle aisle to hug his mentor, Father Jack.

I receive many gifts back from St. John’s, a church family and spiritual home; strength when needed; prayers when I’m sick and a place to light a candle. It’s been my honor to be a lector, to serve on the Committee to hire the new priest (yes, I voted for you, Rev. Roger) and to spend many interesting hours with Father Wilson rewriting and updating the church history.
