"Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius."

~ Pietro Aretino
MAYOR'S CORNER
Greetings!

Meadowlakes is a most unique and wonderful place to live. If you drive around (or walk) on our relatively quiet streets, you'll notice a lot of construction going on throughout the community. Our streets are mostly about 3 cars wide - so if cars are parked on one or both sides of the street, it may be difficult to negotiate safe passage, especially if large vehicles are blocking your view. Please SLOW DOWN and drive extra carefully. The maximum speed throughout the city is 25 MPH - and in some areas, just 20 MPH.
It may seem like we are almost "built out", but there are still approximately 136 lots suitable for building a home - in some cases, a duplex. There were 17 permits issued for new homes in 2015, and 19 remodels. Our estimated population now is 1,950, based on an average of 2.2 people per household. If these averages hold through total build out, our population will be around 2,250 and we'll be totally built out in about 8 years!
I am in the process of appointing committees to consider the community's needs for the future. The only "commercial enterprise" within the gates is the City-owned restaurant, golf course, swimming pool and tennis courts. Since those were built many years ago, we need to consider how best to maintain and improve them to best serve our residents in the coming years. Input from the community is important!
From the PEC pamphlet "101 Easy Ways to Save Energy & Money" - #7 in the top ten recommends keeping your garage door DOWN. A warmer garage in the winter and cooler garage in the summer will save energy...and, in my experience, keep out critters all the time!

AVENUE N DETOUR PLAN

The City of Marble Falls will be starting much needed improvements to a section of Avenue N between Broadway and FM1431. This will be scheduled from February 2016 through July 2016. Improvements will include rerouting that section to a new intersection at Bluebonnet and FM1431. During the 6 month construction period, northbound traffic will be detoured to Avenue L and Avenue Q. Below is a map of the future construction that will be taking place. You can also visit this link to get more information from the City of Marble Falls

WEEKLY BRUSH PICKUP

We would like to remind our residents to please call the City Hall to be put on the weekly brush pickup list and to review the guidelines for the items that can and cannot be picked up. We are seeing more limbs that are being put out for us to chip that are smaller or larger than the required diameter per our ordinance. A door hanger will be left at any home that has items that do not meet the requirements. We encourage you to please not leave piles of brush out for pickup until the day before the scheduled pickup.

Thank you- Public Works Dept

MILITARY MEMORIAL MONUMENT

The Meadowlakes POA is in process of setting up the Military Memorial Monument. You will notice as you enter into Meadowlakes on the left side of Meadowlakes Dr. The memorial monument will be a granite stone monolith from our area, and bronze plaques commemorating the five military services, with bronze inscription so they will always be legible on the stone. In response to several residents offers to help, we have created an account for donations to the memorial. If you wish to donate to the memorial, please come by the City Hall. Any of the young ladies in the office can accept donations and provide you with a receipt of donation. We are working to control the costs of the memorial and the landscaping, any donations will help. If you have any questions please contact James Woods at jrwpdw@nctv.com
