From Mother Pat

Hello everyone, just a brief note to say thank you for your ministry and support over the past year that I have served as your interim clergy; and also to say thank you for the Christmas gift the congregation gave me - I will use it wisely.
Just a reminder that the Annual meeting of the parish is this Sunday, January 26th immediately following worship.  We will have a potluck lunch to enjoy while we meet.  The parish is providing the meat and we are asking everyone to bring a side item, vegetable, dessert or anything edible that you want to share.
The annual parish meeting is an important part of our common life together and the leadership will provide updates on the work of the parish during 2019.  You will elect Vestry members to fill vacant three year terms; and the leadership will outline the parish journey for 2020.  Each adult member of record (16 years and older) is eligible to speak to issues and to vote on items which come before the congregation.  2020 will be an exciting year in the life of St. Andrew's parish as you hopefully call a new rector and engage in a new phase of mission and ministry.  The search committee will provide a brief update on their work and the timeline anticipated.  I will remain with you until a new clergy person is identified.  Each committee will provide written reports on their work this past year and their goals for 2020.
Come and share in the food, fellowship, information exchange, and in the meeting decisions.  God's peace, Mother Pat+

About this Sunday's meal during coffee hour...

If you are bringing "hot" food please bring it hot as Larry Roberson will have the warmer on and ready for you to put your items in but he is serving at the altar during church so he will not be available to take it from you. We will also need some help setting food out after the service.

And New Help needed for the
New Year starting in January... 2020...
  • New Altar Flower chart for signing up on... is in place and WIDE open for dates to dedicate flowers on Sundays. We typically sign up for two Sundays in a row (back to back) as we can usually keep the flowers fresh looking for that long so keep this in mind. The new chart is color coded so you can easily see the open dates.
  • New coffee hour sign-up sheets and these too are very open!
  • New annual statement of giving statements are in your boxes at church. Those not picked up will be mailed Jan 30th.
Basically what all this means is that we need volunteers for a whole bunch of jobs...  Please prayerfully consider... The choir could also use some more voices... just saying...

Is there anyone interested in this ministry????
St. Andrew's parish is looking for one or more individuals willing to serve as parish nurses.  We recently discovered that the emergency AED (Automated Electronic Defibrillator) was not setup correctly and did not have pediatric pads to use with it.  Mo Pat has now setup the device and Carol recently ordered the needed supplies; but this points out how important a parish nurse ministry can be.  If you have or had a nursing license, and if you would like to serve in the parish nurse ministry group, let Mother Pat know of your interest.  What we hope this individual or team of nurses can do includes:  checking AED weekly (takes one minute to verify and document that AED is functional); training interested members of the congregation in how to use the AED because a nurse or health professional may not be present when it is needed (there is a CD); writing short articles for the antiphon on health issues such as when to get flu vaccine, reminders about west Nile virus or Zika when those seasons come around; and perhaps offering a monthly blood pressure screening Sunday for those who would like to know what their blood pressure is.  The role can be expanded as the ministry grows if those serving desire to attend pastoral care team meetings in order to help the Lay Eucharistic Visitors with questions about those they see in Care Centers or the Hospital.  We really need someone who can help with this important ministry and if that individual is you, volunteer as part of the team.

Pledge Envelopes for 2020
Also, Carol Mohor (our treasurer) has decided not to order new pledge envelopes this year. She has plenty of unused ones from the past year for those that want them (especially anyone who gives cash and wants to keep track). She will even go through and correct the dates if you need her to but as long as its in an envelope with your name it will be recorded. Those who write checks can simply fold their check or are more than welcome to use the envelopes you have left from this past year. There's no sense in wasting the paper (trees) or money to purchase more since the minimum order is more than twice what we need. Any questions or comments please let Carol Mohor know.

January 26th: Annual Parish Meeting after church. (written annual reports will be due before)
COLLECT FOR The Third Sunday after Epiphany
G ive us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Musical Notes for this Sunday from Richard Thompson
Pre-Service Music for this Sunday is "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert 1797-1828.  Although there are many musical settings for this well known text, this one is one of the most familiar.  You hear another melody by this composer each week as he wrote  the music for the Sanctus which we use at St. Andrews.
During our search process
Please keep our entire vestry, in your prayers for guidance and discernment for our future. This is a time for all to come together and work to keep St. Andrew's in line with with God's plan for us. "We" are His church! And let us look at this time as an opportunity to discern God's future plans for us at St. Andrew's.

Also, as we go through this process please lift us up in daily prayer:
Almighty and everlasting God, from Whom all good and perfect gifts are given. Look graciously upon us at St. Andrew's.  Guide the hearts and minds of those who shall choose a priest for this congregation; that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries.  May we truly please Thee through this endeavor.  Help us to encourage and continue to love as Christ loves us. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen
