Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Luna Optometry a proud provider of vision care products and services in California

Dr. Emily James, Optometrist

Dr. Emily James is the owner of Luna Optometry and is dedicated to providing comprehensive, personalized eye care with a focus on whole-body wellness. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree as a magna cum laude graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry and holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science and Chemistry.


Combining her background in nutrition with her passion for holistic health, Dr. James offers a modern approach to eye care that emphasizes both visual health and overall well-being. 


She is experienced in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of ocular conditions, including glaucoma, chronic dry eye disease, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. Dr. James also co-manages patients undergoing cataract and refractive surgery, providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care in collaboration with ophthalmic surgeons. 


Dr. James lives in Topanga Canyon with her husband and two children. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, gardening, and cooking.



Dr. Patrick Holden, Optometrist

Dr. Patrick Holden graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in 2023. He began his education at Ventura College before transferring to the University of California, Davis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. 


During his time at Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Holden developed a strong foundation in general optometry, pediatric eye care, and specialty contact lenses.


He also received extensive training in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease and glaucoma through clinical rotations at the Veterans Administration in Las Vegas and Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, Arizona.


Dr. Holden lives in Woodland Hills and enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Samantha, their dachshund, Dax, and their cat, Phillip. Outside of the office, he likes to golf, hike, and play guitar.

What should I bring to appointment?

Please bring your current glasses or contacts, a list of medications you take, and your insurance information. If it’s your first visit, arrive a few minutes early.

9/11 25th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony

Each year Pepperdine University’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony provides our community with a time to reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001.


Join fellow students, faculty, staff, and friends in a powerful and communal commemoration on the 25th anniversary of one of the most devastating milestones in our nation’s modern history. 


The ceremony will feature reflections and readings by members of the Pepperdine community. Attendees are also invited to visit the Waves of Flags display before or after the service to pay tribute to the lives lost with prayer and reflection.
