PARADISE CIRCUIT TARGETED UNDERGROUNDING PROJECT

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Southern California Edison (SCE) will begin construction activities associated with its Paradise Circuit Targeted Undergrounding Project in the City of Calabasas. This project is part of SCE’s ongoing wildfire mitigation and electric system resiliency efforts designed to improve public safety and electrical reliability in high wildfire risk areas.

PROJECT PURPOSE

The targeted undergrounding effort is intended to reduce wildfire risk and improve electric reliability during extreme weather conditions by relocating overhead electrical facilities underground. Undergrounding infrastructure helps protect the electrical system from high winds, vegetation impacts, and other hazards that may contribute to wildfires or power outages.

CONSTRUCTION LIMITS

Construction activities for this phase of the project will occur along Old Topanga Canyon Rd within the City of Calabasas. Work will cover approximately 1.28 miles (6,758 linear feet) of targeted underground electrical infrastructure installation.

ANTICIPATED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

Construction began in late June 2026, with completion expected during the third quarter of 2027.

WORKING HOURS

Construction is anticipated Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

• Utility potholing and trenching

• Installation of conduits, vaults, and manholes

• Cable installation

• Asphalt restoration

• Removal of existing overhead electrical infrastructure and equipment

• Vegetation trimming or removal necessary for safe access

Residents and businesses near the project area may experience temporary construction-related noise during approved working hours.

It means cost savings, jobs, cleaner air and a brighter Southern California.

Keeping Bills As Low As Possible

SCE takes every opportunity to pass cost savings onto our customers. We work to find the most effective and lowest-cost approaches to providing every customer with the power they need.

For 2026, SCE projects average rates will remain flat or slightly decline through October, although individual rate changes may be higher or lower than average.

Longer term, we project that on average, our rates will grow in line with or below inflation through 2029, as they did for about 30 years prior to 2020.

Making Every Dollar Count

For every dollar SCE receives from customers, 44 cents* goes directly to pay for the electricity delivered — with no markup or profit. About 43 cents* (38 cents for distribution, 5 cents for transmission) is used to maintain and repair the power grid and to provide customer care, such as:

Making the electric grid safer for everyone
Reduce outages and safely restore power faster
Strengthen the grid to handle extreme weather events

Mandated funding of public purpose programs accounts for 3 cents.* Costs of state policies, such as reducing wildfire risk and subsidies for solar customers, are also embedded in existing power generation and delivery charges.
