On February 1, please join us in the Fellowship Hall after service as we welcome Quilts of Valor for a special presentation. The organization’s mission is to honor and thank service members and veterans for their dedication and sacrifice in defending our freedom.
Catherine Roberts started the project in 2003. She had a dream one night during the time her son was deployed in Iraq. She saw a man sitting on his bed as war demons dragged him down. Then she saw him wrapped in a quilt and his feeling changed to warmth and well-being. Since then, around 430,000 veterans have been awarded a quilt made by members who donate their time, talent, and materials to make the quilt.
On Sunday, we will honor three of our veterans in our congregation with a short ceremony performed by this area’s chapter president and our own quilter, Patty Boedecker.
