The Saint Nicholas Charity Soccer Event.
The Saint Nicholas charity soccer event was started 12 years ago to give back to the local community by our very own, Karon Beyer and the Cobb adult soccer league to collect toys for the local Must Ministries Toy Shop for displaced and families in need at the holidays.
The charity event started off small by collecting toys from the CASL club soccer teams, and it has morphed into what is now a one day 7aside charity soccer event where, in exchange for ($25) toys players are given three games.
The event is entirely volunteer based with event staff, dressed up as elves and Referees in our St.Nick Santa uniforms with Santa caps. The fields are donated by Cobb county parks & rec, and the NW YMCA of Atlanta. The NWYMCA provides a concession stand with free hot cocoa for all.
Our annual event is made more festive with giant inflatables provided by the Inflatable House of Mableton. Players dressed up for the holiday and prizes are awarded to the “Most Festive Team”. There is a holiday music, food trucks, a local brewery, raffle prizes that are donated for the event. Georgia State Soccer provides free give away and their own raffle gift bags. The Kory Rykman Allstate Insurance Agency provided dry fit tee-shirts for every one participating, players, volunteers and referees.
This year we set a record high of 45 teams (Coed/Mens/Womens) from multiple Metro Atlanta leagues. The final count for our one day event was 678 toys or just donations of $16,950.
