Recognizing our crossing guards

ADULT SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD RECOGNITION WEEK IS BEING OBSERVED IN MARSHFIELD FROM JANUARY 19–23

By Tom Loucks/Communications Director

For more than 50 years, adult school crossing guards have played a vital role in keeping children safe as they travel between home and school. Rain, snow, cold temperatures, and heavy traffic don’t stop these dedicated individuals from showing up day after day to protect our youngest pedestrians.

Their presence helps reduce pedestrian injuries, reinforces safe street-crossing habits for students, and supports school safety patrols throughout the community.

The City of Marshfield thanks our crossing guards for their commitment and encourages residents to share their appreciation for the important, life-saving work they do.

Mayor Lois TeStrake will read a proclamation recognizing the crossing guards at the Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Council meeting.

TAX REMINDER

By Tom Loucks/Communications Director

Property tax Installment 1 payments for the City of Marshfield are due January 31, 2026.

Please note: The U.S. Postal Service has changed its mail postmarking processes. It’s no longer the date that USPS first touches it. It’s stamped at the sorting centers. If property owners wait until the last minute (for example, the last week in January), then some of the mail might be postmarked after January. If the letter is postmarked after January, the payment is considered delinquent.

To avoid delays or penalties, we strongly recommend mailing payments early and planning ahead.
