Important Information - School Information

Testing Results

We have the results of the FAST testing for reading that we did last week. I am sending home 2 copies, please keep one for your records and the other one we need back with a signature that you received it. If you have any questions about the results please feel free to reach out to me.

School Picture day is October 4th. You should have received a pre order form in the green folder earlier this week.

Please be sure you are packing your student a snack. If you are please make sure they know that they need to save part of their lunch as snack. Over the past few days I have had as many as 6 students with no snack. I do have emergency snacks in the classroom for emergency reasons however these are not meant to be daily. I have had a few parent donations and I appreciate them, Thank you!

Reminder that we have our first Poetry and Prose

Our first Poetry and Prose that we would like to welcome parents to attend is Friday September 30th at 8:15 am in the cafeteria. Come see some of the things that we have learned!

Dress Code

The school is starting to crack down on the dress code as some parents are aware of already. In kinder we are working on keeping our shirts tucked in. If the shorts or pants have belt loops they need to have a belt. I have seen some of the kinder scholars wearing a magnetic belts. This is genius in my opinion. I have attached the link here for your viewing if you are interested or curious.

Shoes - please make sure that your child has solid black or white shoes. I actually had to go get a pair for my daughter last night and I found Sketchers has a pair at a reasonable price. They are unisex and have no laces or Velcro.

The link for the shoes can be seen here

Lime Green Take Home Folders

Please review with you child nightly. Also anything that is in the right side pocket please take out and leave at home. Anything that needs to be returned will be placed on the left side.

Our Faces - Our school is only using three colors this school year.

This is the meaning behind what each color means

GREEN - I had a great day! I followed all the rules with little to no redirection

YELLOW - I had a good Day. There was quite a bit of redirection but nothing  serious

RED - Today was not that great. I needed redirection that required a time out or

parent contact

PARENT VOLUNTEERS...

I would like to begin having parent volunteers in the room to assist.

If you are interested you must be newly cleared as of this school year.

If you have received your clearance letter from CCPS please forward that to me so that I can get you on our approval list.

If you need to fill out the paperwork please click the image below to land on our school page and follow the steps to become cleared.

A Peek into our Week

September 19 - September 23

Literature

We will finish this week with "The Three Little Pigs"

With each of our stories we read a different version so that we can have a full understanding of a fairytale. (Once upon a time, the versions may differ from each other, the main concept that they are not real) We are focusing on Setting and Characters this week and touching on sequencing.

Literacy Essentials

Scholars are continuing to learn new phonograms every day (how to form them and the sounds that they make).  They are also beginning to work with informal spelling words.

I actually found this link to help parents see how we teach the phonogram sounds.

History

We are reviewing the 7 continents. We are focusing this week on North America and how it is divided into 3 parts; Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

We are learning about the five oceans as well.

Science

We are on break from Science this week.

Math

Scholars are working with 3D shapes (identifying them and their attributes). We touched on 2D shapes this week as well. Yesterday we used playdoh to create cubes, cylinders, spheres, cones, and pyramids.

Poems we are learning

"Diddle Diddle Dumpling" and "A Diller, A Dollar"

Phrase we are learning

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

We discuss this almost daily with our actions with others.

September Virtue of the Month

"Courtesy"

"I will be polite, use manners, and maintain a

positive attitude in all my daily interactions."

Thank you to everyone for the items that have been donated to the classroom. These items will be instrumental in the success of your child's learning path! Even with the Wishlist down the items that are still flowing are are very helpful and are greatly appreciated.
