SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Rockwell Park Amphitheater
Latanya Farrell is a gifted singer, songwriter and performer who moves audiences with passion, energy and a love for music and life! Her award winning vocal talent and style has influences from Natalie Cole to Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin to Ella Fitzgerald. Her r presence is infectious and keeps the energy flowing throughout the performance with music that ranges from soulful classics to urban contemporary. Dubbed the Queen of Summer Concerts by the Hartford Courant, Latanya Farrell is a gifted singer, songwriter and performer with passion, energy, and a love for music and life! BPRYCS is excited to invite back Stafford Elementary School’s Principal – Latanya Farrell – to this year’s series!
The FREE concerts are held outdoors at the Rockwell Park Amphitheater. Weather updates will be posted on concert days to www.BristolRec.com. For those looking for dinner, a different food truck will join us in the park each week, brought to you by the West End Association of Bristol. Opening acts begin at 6:00 pm and main acts go on at 6:30 pm. The amphitheater holds plenty of seats, but attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the evening.

MAYOR'S BACK TO SCHOOL PENCIL HUNT
Thursday, August 26th - 5:00 PM
Muzzy Field
Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu and the Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Department invite all school children from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade to join us at the fourth annual Mayor’s Back to School Pencil Hunt, on Thursday, August 26th.
Students can start the school year right as they participate in a scavenger hunt for pencils. The prizes include: Leapfrog Academy, an Amazon Fire, a Kindle, a Chromebook, a TI84 calculator, binders, notebooks, pens, and more. Every child will win back to school supplies.

We’re hitting the pavement with sidewalk chalk, paint, stencils, fun messages, games, and more! We’ll provide all of the materials needed to create colorful sidewalk displays, unique games, positive messages, and forced perspective designs.

Back to School Block Party - Brackett Park

Embrace the Bristol community at the Back to School Block Party on Saturday, August 21. Enjoy carnival games, arts and crafts, face painting, music, family-friendly activities and more! Bring your friends, neighbors, and chairs to Brackett Park for a nice day out.

Kite Building & Flying - Nelson's Field
Saturday, September 4th
11:00 am - 1:00 pm
We’ll be catching the breeze at Nelson’s Field on Saturday, September 4! Join us as we assemble our own kites to fill the sky will colorful creations. Kite assembly expresses creativity in a constructive manner. Kite building is for kids of all ages and we have different kits for different age groups and different abilities. Kiters are welcome to bring their own kite as well. BPRYCS staff will also will be flying some fun kites for all to enjoy.

NEON NIGHTS FLOAT NIGHT
Our sixth annual NEON NIGHTS at Rockwell Park is coming back on Friday, August 13th from 6pm-9pm! The brightest bash in the neighborhood will feature an array of colorful events, including glowing pool, live DJ, foam party, drone dome, and "light up lounge". Admission is $5.00 per person. Please register in advance.

ANNUAL MAINTENANCE CLOSURE
Sunday, August 15th - Sunday, August 22nd
In order to keep the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center in the best condition, the facility will be closed to patrons from August 15th - 22nd, as staff perform annual maintenance. Page and Rockwell Pool are open daily through August 22nd for patrons.

Mark your calendars for the 10th annual Pooch Plunge! - Rain or Shine! Why should humans have all the FUN? Join us for a doggy-only pool party! Bring your four-legged friends out for the 10th annual Pooch Plunge at the Rockwell Park Pool! Admission to Pooch Plunge is $3.00 at the gate (includes canine and companions).
