Class of 2027 4 Year Plan

Mrs. DeCosty will be meeting with all of the freshmen during their wellness classes on Thursday and Friday to get their “4 Year Plan” set up in Skyward. This document serves two purposes. It is a part of the A+ Scholarship requirements. It is also a way for the students to map out their four years here at St. Pius X.  This plan is revisited each year to make any necessary changes. Please know that this plan does not dictate their classes from year to year. It is a way for them to start thinking about the bigger picture of their time here. If you would like to discuss this with your freshman you can find our course catalog here

Summer Leadership Opportunities

There are several youth leadership programs for next summer available to St. Pius X students. All of the events are great opportunities and help our students hone their leadership skills that are an important addition to a student's resume.  Below are some specific details regarding summer leadership opportunities for current sophomores and juniors.

HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership): Outstanding communication, critical thinking, creative problem solving, strong decision making, sensitivity to others, charismatic personality, courage to speak out and challenge, interest in community service. This program is open to current sophomores; selection should not be based exclusively on GPA. We are allowed 3 registrations for our school and the cost is $350. Dates are June 7th through June 9th and the event is held at Webster University in St. Louis.

Missouri Leadership Seminar: Open to current sophomores. We are only allowed to nominate one student from St. Pius to attend. MLS 2024 will take place May 30 - June 2 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. The cost is FREE courtesy of a generous sponsorship. It is an opportunity for students to discover their leadership potential and network with other young leaders across the state of Missouri.

MO Boys/Girls STATE: Open to current juniors, the MO Boys/Girls State is an 8-day youth program held each June to teach Missouri high school students leadership and the workings of government. Missouri is one of forty-nine states with such a program for boys and girls sponsored by The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. This summer’s (2024) event is June 22 - June 29 on the campus of Lindenwood University. If students are interested in participating, they need to apply. We may be limited to a certain number of participants depending on sponsorship availability. Please have your student see Mr. Halter for more information and for information on how to apply.

If you feel your student might be interested in one of these opportunities, please have them contact Mr. Halter at [email protected] or have them stop by his office for details.

All School Mass

December 8, 2023 - All School Mass - 10:27AM

December 8 marks the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. Mary said to the angel Gabriel: "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." (Luke 2:38) We will celebrate this holy day together with an all school mass. Please join us.

Advent

Today marks the start of Advent. This is a great time to reflect on Jesus who is to come at Christmas. A time to pause, slow down, and reflect. There are several great resources out there to help you in this time of waiting.

On the Hallow App there is a free resource for Advent called: Advent Pray25 with C.S. Lewis. There will be a reflection to listen to each day on a writing by C.S. Lewis.

One tradition among families during Advent is the Jesse Tree. Formed has created a new series for Advent called Rooted that is for adults.

Rooted

https://watch.formed.org/rooted  “This new 22-episode series guides Catholics through a daily Advent reflection using the Jesse Tree model traditionally practiced by families. Each seven-minute episode introduces the ancestors of Jesus Christ, shares a Scripture passage, and offers an engaging, practical reflection.

Hosted by Dr. Scott Hefelfinger, Rooted helps viewers apply the passage and related teachings to each day of Advent, guided by the Church’s teachings.

You can also find other great Advent resources on Formed by going to the main page and searching “Advent” – https://watch.formed.org/search?q=advent
