After a successful 24-year career supporting NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Dr. Bailey retired from the corporate world and started consulting with small businesses looking to break into the NASA market in Huntsville. At the same time, he returned to teaching Mathematics at the University of Alabama in Huntsville after a 4-year break.

In working with his clients, Dr. Bailey kept hearing of the difficulties they were having with students hired fresh out of college. This inspired him to develop a mentorship program that would help develop the skills for these young professionals require to enter the workplace upon graduation. From this, they began to develop a 12-module collection of skills that every young professional needs to be effective in today’s workplace. The key to this strategy, was to provide qualified mentors to help guide the students through each module and become a resource for them.

Back for it’s second year, the Catalyst Center’s HUBZone Accelerator will be showcasing their technical solutions to industry Primes and Contractors at the HUBZone Innovation and Technology Showcase. This event provides a backdrop for matchmaking to buyers, and enables area HUBZone companies to demonstrate their solutions, which range from cybersecurity to custom software development.

The Accelerator, a mission of the Catalyst, is a consortium of technical HUBZone companies organized by the Catalyst and provides HUBZone companies with a centralized network that focuses on the mission of member companies to their communities and the people that reside there. It also serves as a one-stop resource for HUBZone companies to grow their business, share resources, and market their capabilities to large prime businesses and government agencies. In addition, the HUBZone Accelerator provides a platform for HUBZone member companies to champion their businesses as technically qualified in engineering, science, and emerging technologies.
