Over winter break, a beautiful aquarium was donated to our science classroom. This 100-gallon saltwater aquarium is teeming with life: Including tropical fish and invertebrates such as crabs, sea anemones, and live corals.  Over the course of this past month, our 5th-8th grade students had the incredible opportunity to observe our miniature ecosystem grow as life was added slowly over the weeks. Now, as the aquarium is almost complete, the students are able to explore and learn more about marine biology and conservation with this little piece of the ocean right here in our learning space.
On Friday, January 31st - We held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for this wonderful new addition to Mrs. Quadara's classroom. We shared ours thanks to Billy Adams for his passion of reef-keeping for over 10 years and to the Adams family for generously thinking of us for the initial donation along with providing their love and support. We send our thanks to the SJReef Aquarium Store for donating their time and resources to get the classroom aquarium started. The students were able to express their gratitude with thank you cards presented to each party as well. As a wonderful surprise at the end of the ceremony, the Mayor of Livermore (John Marchand) presented us with a Certificate of Recognition presented at the dedication of the Billy Adams aquarium at OSLS.
