From the Rector

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,

Please mark your calendar for our Annual Meeting on Sunday January 26th. We will hold one 9:00 a.m. service on this day, and have a potluck brunch and our meeting in the Great Hall following the service.    We are in need of many more dishes and items for our brunch so please sign up in the hall, or contact Amy in the office. The Annual Meeting is important in the life of St. Mary's. We will elect new vestry members, and delegates to the Diocesan Convention. We will also discuss and approve our operating budget for 2020, discuss the future of our music program, and the next phase of capital campaign, as well as celebrate the ministry we have carried out over this past year together.   Your presence is requested and needed at this meeting.   If you are new to the parish this is a good time to join us to find out more about what is happening at St. Mary's.  All are Welcome!

This Sunday we will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord and Steven Szalaj will be with us as our guest pianist. I am so grateful of Steve's willingness to be with us. You may read more about Steve in this newsletter.

See you on Sunday,
Fran+

Guest Pianist This Sunday

This Sunday we welcome back Steve Szalaj as our guest pianist at the 10:00 a.m. service. Steve was most recently with us this past October.   Steve, and his wife Monica, have called Crystal Lake their home since 1978 and they have been an active part of the area's music community since that time.  Steve is currently an adjunct instructor at McHenry County College, and the Artistic Director of Voices in Harmony.  Along with those things, he has been a church choir director for many years, and a music teacher.   Steve and Monica have two grown sons and four granddaughters.

Annual Parish Meeting and Brunch

The morning will begin with a single, combined Eucharist beginning at 9:00 a.m. , followed by a wonderful pot-luck brunch, and then the Annual Parish Meeting, beginning at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The brunch sign-up sheet is posted in the Great Hall.   Please indicate if you would like to prepare a dish, shop for additional items needed, or help with set-up and clean-up.

Make it a point to attend this year's meeting as we reflect on 2019, and look forward to great opportunities in 2020!

Ministry Leaders : A request for your annual reports was recently sent out.   Please email them to the office by Friday, January 17 at the very latest, so the packets can be put together. Questions? Contact Amy in the office.

January Community Meal

Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 18 5:00-7:00 p.m. for our next Community Meal .    In January we begin our fourth year of offering a free meal on the third Saturday of every month! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, share a night out with friends, or just stop in if you've had a busy day and don't feel like cooking. Let us do the work!! Remember, this meal is open to anyone, and no RSVP is required. Bring your family and friends! There is no  charge for the meal, but free-will donations are appreciated.

There are post cards available on a Narthex table with all the dates for 2020. The menu is posted on our website a week or two prior to the meal.   If you'd like to volunteer to help, please contact Tracy Higgins.
