ACS News
Mrs. Lauren Fenton will return from maternity leave next week. A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Amber Oosterheert for stepping in and doing an amazing job teaching Mrs. Fenton's Kindergarten class for the past 10 weeks!

Our Early Childhood Open House will be held on Thursday, January 17, starting at 6:30pm. This will be the first time the general public will be able to enroll in Preschool and Child Care for 2019-20. We will be adding more options for Nature-based and Traditional Preschool, as well as adding Summer Care to the Childcare program! The best promotion for ACS is word of mouth from our current families. We would greatly appreciate if you would tell your friends and family about the Open House and our Early Childhood programs! Current families will be able to enroll for next year prior to the Open House.

School Closings or Delay Due Weather You will be notified by Allendale Public School if  Allendale Christian School is closed or delayed during any day because of bad weather (fog, ice, snow) or when the condition of the roads would make it unsafe for the buses to travel.  Parents will receive a phone call via an Instant Alert system in the case of a cancellation or delay. If you were not notified this past Monday about the school closing, please email Sara Kuperus at   skuperus@allendalechristian.com Because most of our students are transported by Allendale Public School buses, the decision to delay or close school will be made in conjunction with the decisions of the Allendale Public School administrators. With regard to Preschool, if there is a 2 hour delay, AM Preschool will be cancelled. If the school is closed, Preschool will be closed as well.  School closings or delays will also be on the local radio or television stations.

Parents of Kindergarten students,  If you are interested in moving your child to the 5-day a week class after Christmas, please let us know as soon as possible.

On Monday, December 3, ACS will be performing their annual Christmas concert for family and friends . This is a great way for us all to kick off the Christmas season and for the students to show you what they have learned so far this year in band and choir. It will take place at The Ceglarek Fine Arts Center at Allendale Public School at 6:30pm. A few details are below:
  • Young Fives & Kindergarten will sit with their parents for the first half of the concert and join their teachers at intermission.
  • 1st-5th graders should arrive at 6:15pm and meet their teachers in the choir room beyond the wooden double doors. We ask that all students stay for the duration of the program since we have a couple combined songs at the end. Students should dress up in their "Sunday best." Please no jeans or t-shirts with words.
  • 6th-8th graders should arrive at 6:10pm and meet their teachers in the band room beyond the wooden double doors. We ask that all students stay for the duration of the program since we have a couple combined songs at the end. All students should wear khaki pants and brown or black shoes (Flats are fine for girls, as long as they are close-toed). Each student should also wear their blue polo provided by the school. If you are in band, please be sure you have your instrument, music, and anything else you need to perform.
  • It was brought to my attention that there was no callback for band/choir polo shirts last year. So...if your student did not return their polo shirt, please do so ASAP!
  • If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Miss Brummel at mbrummel@allendalechristian.com. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Miss Brummel
Student After School Pick Up  The safety of our students is very important.  Parking or waiting in the lane in front of school is not permitted.  Please use the parking lot. Parents, If you have a special person picking your kids up from school, please inform them of our policy! Thank you for keeping our kids safe!

Advance Notice   ACS was accepted in to the Teaching for Transformation program after the 2018-19 calendar was created. Because of this, we need to complete two training days on scheduled school days. Those days will be January 21 and April 15. School WILL be in session for those days, but there will be guest teachers in the classrooms. All specials classes will be held on their normal schedule. We understand what cancellations can do for child care issues and consistency for kids, so we have determined that it is best to have school in session those days. Classroom teachers will be still be in the building with training.

Moms in Prayer  meet at ACS on Thursdays from 8:30-9:30am in the girls locker room. All Moms are welcome ... there's no greater work you can do for your kids than the work of prayer!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpN9HevQIcw
