WORSHIP CONTINUES
~ONLINE~ IN JULY
Sunday, July 18, 2021

This week for worship we're inviting you to join with the United Church of Canada's full Communion partner the United Church of Christ (USA) and the worship being held for their General Synod. They have 3 worship services throughout the Synod, Opening worship on July 11th, Wednesday Evening (6pm Mountain), and their closing worship is being held Sunday the 18th at 4pm Mountain. Here is a link to a playlist with all 3 worship services, the live ones will be available at the appropriate time. We hope you enjoy this worship experience.

The United Church of Christ is a denomination in the USA with whom The United Church of Canada is in “full communion” – an agreement signed in 2015 which allows clergy to move freely between the denominations if they choose, and recognizes each other’s sacraments of baptism and communion. For more about the UCC and links to their General Synod, see https://www.ucc.org/.

Depending on how everything goes with Alberta’s Stage 3 summer reopening, we are tentatively planning an outdoor in-person worship service for Sunday, August 15th. More details once August arrives.

As always, the regular Church expenses (utility bills, salaries, etc) continue 12 months of the year and your ongoing support is greatly appreciated. If you wish to make a financial contribution to Ralph Connor, please go to http://ralphconnor.ca/giving/ or for Rundle, http://rundleunited.ca/donate/.
The wonders of nature are endless.

The "Donate Now" button under the Giving tab on our website has made it very easy to contribute to our Church. Thank you Mona McIntyre (our treasurer) for making that addition.
On Saturday afternoons at 2 PM, we've resumed BELL RINGING at RCMUC as a thank you to Health Care Workers, Teachers, Servers & Frontline staff who have been faithfully on-the-job for public benefit throughout the pandemic.
EVERY CHILD MATTERS
Each week, we continue our presentation of the calls to the nation, and calls to the Church, that were issued in 2015 as a result of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Call # 66 deals with Youth programs:
66. We call upon the federal government to establish multiyear funding for community-based youth organizations to deliver programs on reconciliation, and establish a national network to share information and best practices.
While much work has been done to create connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, the development of a platform for Indigenous youth to truly have a voice, and to enable communication between youth of various First Nations, has been slow to develop.

Tipi at NWMP Grounds
In the spirit of reconciliation, there will be a tipi on the NWMP grounds this summer. Traditional stories and knowledge are shared and crafts, games and traditional skills are demonstrated as part of the Barracks' new Indigenous Stories tipi program at the NWMP Barracks. The program runs daily Thursday to Monday, June 26 to August 30, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a Stoney Nakoda cultural interpreter, Leandra Beaver. The program is offered in partnership with Nakota Tipi n Rider Style Craft from Eden Valley.
RCMUC Prayer Circles
We have two prayer groups at RCMUC: The Healing Pathway Prayer which meets on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Tuesday's “Morning Prayer” group (is on hiatus for July).

To share a prayer concern, please email Val Goodrow at [email protected].

We request that the person gives consent to have their name mentioned in prayer as privacy/confidentiality is of utmost importance. We also would appreciate knowing when the situation changes and we can release them from our prayers or update the prayer to a changing need.

AFFIRMING MINISTRY
Our gratitude to Robin Slater for offering the following feature in our weekly Newsletter, as part of our efforts to be a more broadly inclusive, and affirming, Community of Faith.

ROBIN'S WEB
CONNECTING DIVERSITY

My favourite words in the whole New Testament are from Luke, describing a concept attributed to a frightened, lonely young woman who is unable to see into the future and has no inkling of what the events unfolding for her at the time will accomplish. Luke 2:19 and Luke 2:51: But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Paying attention to Indigenous Elders speak about reconciliation these past traumatic weeks, has shown me the parallel paradigm from an Indigenous perspective: Listen with your heart before your mind. Lessons for recovery after COVID-19 and paths to healing, here are some ideas to ponder over the summer.
