Happy Catholic Schools Week!

It was wonderful to see the 8th grade students play bingo with some of our senior parishioners who visited our school this Monday. The Seniors had so much fun that they all said they will bring their friends next year.

I was very pleased to see many of you at the parent appreciation breakfast. Thank you once again for giving St. Michael School the opportunity to serve your kids.

Today we celebrated our teachers. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring the teachers’s luncheon and thank you to all the parents who sent special treats for them today. 

I am looking forward to the rest of the festivities planned for this week.

DRESS DOWN DAY TOMORROW

Student Council is encouraging students to wear their favorite team jersey. If you don't have a favorite team wear red, gold, or white to support either the San Fransisco 49er's OR the Kansas City Chiefs in the Superbowl this Sunday.
Catholic Schools Week
Thursday, January 30th - Student Appreciation Day, talks from Father Drummond and Father Bryan as well as Sisters from our parish, Pep Rally (grades 4-8), OPEN HOUSE 9:00-11:00am, Bingo (grades, K-3)
Friday, January 31st - Vocations Day, our family military, and service personnel will speak to our middle school students. Middle School Religion Bee. Lunch will also be provided to students in Kindergarten-8th grade.

BAND and CHOIR Festival in the Parks

The Saint Michael School Band and Choir trip this year is to Busch Gardens on May 8, 2020. All Band and Choir members are invited to attend this festival.
The cost of the trip for each student is $150. The cost for chaperones is $80.

Your 2nd payment is due NOW. Please send your payment in an envelope marked "Band Trip" with your child's name to the school office.

This year's Knights of Columbus (Council Level) Free Throw competition will be taking place THIS Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the gym.

The competition is open to boys and girls, between the ages of 9 and 14.  

Winners from our St. Michael KOC Council 14523, will then compete on the District level will then take place some time in February at St. Michael Gym. Winners from the District Level will then compete on the state level in Richmond. Families can also email  Jim Perkins  at  jim@jim-perkins  or  Jermaine Perkins  at  wrauthor@gmail.com  with any questions or to let Mr. Perkins know that their child is planning to attend and participate on Friday.  

St. Michael Fr. Scannell Knights of Columbus, Council 14523 Free Throw Competition. Do you have a Shot??  Specifically, a basketball Free Throw Shot? The Knights of Columbus, Council 14523 is pleased to announce the 2020 International Free Throw Championship for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14. The Competition begins at the Council level and will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 in the St. Michael School gym beginning at 6 PM and ending at 8:30 PM. Parents will need to fill in and sign a registration form for their child.  Free throws will take place on a first come first serve basis.  Winners move on to the district, and state levels. From there, some make it to the international level for championship competition in their group.  Entry forms will be available at the competition. Weather-Related Closings and Delays
Saint Michael School follows Fairfax County Public School ( fcps.edu ) weather-related closing and delay decisions. You will receive an automated phone call telling you of the closure or delay. We will also post delay and closing announcements as soon as we receive them to the front page of our website and on our facebook and twitter accounts.
Parent Lunch Hours
Please use the Sign Up Genius Link (below) to sign up for your lunch hour. We are asking for 3 parents per lunch. 

We Need Your Help for Recess and Lunch to run smoothly 


Every Family (K-8) is required to work 5 hours of lunch 
or pay the $100 opt out fee.
