A Note from The President

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON WEATHER WHICH MAY IMPACT OUR SCHOOL:
|
|
As an administrative team, we have discussed our process for determining if we will hold school, cancel, or delay our start. If we are faced with a fairly clear forecast of significant inclement weather, we all agree it is our primary responsibility to take care of our students, parents, and staff all of whom travel the roads of many cities and towns to get to the school. Therefore, knowing we have our process of Structured Alternative Learning Days in place, we will do our best to make our no school calls as early as possible so all can prepare for the Structured Alternative Learning Day and so that parents who need to make child care arrangements have the time to do that. This will most likely mean that we will make a call prior to the City of Taunton. If a forecast is not clear to support a decision, we will be faced with waiting to see what happens, but will do our best to give as much notice to all as possible.

AWWWW…Now that we have your attention…PLEASE SUPPORT OUR COYLE AND CASSIDY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION POLAR BEAR FUNDRAISER ON JANUARY 26TH…THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT SO THEY ARE ABLE TO HOLD THIS EVENT…Here is why your support is critical…
The Coyle and Cassidy Athletic Association and their support of our students in so many tangible ways is critical to the experience of ALL our students. All the funds they raise through their fundraisers, of which this is their single most important fundraiser, go directly to impact our students – both student athletes and our students in general.
Proceeds from this event directly impact the student athletes. In the past year they have purchased:
- Varsity and JV hockey bags
- Lacrosse Bags
- Lacrosse Goalie Equipment
- Practice time at indoor facilities when the weather is bad
- T-Shirts for the football team
In addition to specific support of our athletic programs, this group all supports ALL our students through:
- The funding of expensive fan transportation to big games
- The purchase of brand-new picnic tables for the Senior Outdoor Lunch Area
- They are supporting all students with a LARGE financial contribution to the NEW wellness center.
Everything that this group does adds to the quality of programs and student life at the school. Without their financial support these things would not be able to be absorbed in the current school budget. This group and their support is the main reason our school has never had to consider an athletic fee to participate in sports. Through their generous support and hard work, we have been able to keep our athletic activities open to ALL students at no direct cost to them. This is one key area where Coyle remains distinct from other schools in our area.
Many parents and great supporters have already donated time, money, and raffle prizes to this event. Some of this year’s items include: a week at a Myrtle Beach condo, Bruins tickets, Celtics tickets etc.
This is a casual dress event with a tailgate theme. Wear your favorite sports team attire. Tailgate-themed food, a DJ, cash bar, silent auctions, pick a prize and more!
This event brought it $8500+ last year. Please help us make this a success! Tickets may be purchased online by clicking the link down below:

As we continue to develop and improve upon our STEM education and student experiences, we are interested in developing several new partnerships with various STEM focused businesses in our area. We have been working with one parent from Johnson and Johnson and would certainly like to bring in other JNJ people as well as individuals from other organizations as well. If you would be interested in this effort, please email Mr. Jack O’Brien at

A Message from The Principal
|
|
As we prepare for possible snow this weekend, I would like to take the opportunity to remind all of our students and families of our Structured Alternative Learning Day policy. In the event of an unplanned school cancellation, unless otherwise notified, we will implement a structured alternative learning day. Students should check the portal for their class assignment and complete it as directed by their teacher. The assignments are only for classes that would meet on the missed day. The goal of this initiative is to keep learning moving forward on days when we have unexpected interruptions. In doing this, the impact of interrupted time on learning is lessened significantly and students are not required to make up missed days at the end of a school year. We have evaluated this program since its inception and seriously considered both student and parent input in order to maximize overall effectiveness. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Our next scheduled session of MAP Testing begins on Tuesday 1/22. Students in grades 5-10 will participate in MAP testing during the first period of the day on 1/22, 23, 24 and 1/28. We will be evaluating student progress as compared to the first testing session and we will be communicating this to parents.
As we begin the second half of the school year, I would like to thank all of you for your ongoing support. We are blessed to have all of you as part of our community.
Sincerely,
Kathleen St.Laurent

Go Celts, B’s and Pats
Greetings,
Well Term 2 is at a close and the kids were scrambling to get their grades up! I remind them all the time that our teachers are here after school just about every day of the week. Most times when students have poor grades is is because of lack of effort, whether it’s not turning in assignments or not preparing well enough for an exam. My advice is always, “Keep trying and work harder if you need to and do your homework.” Students should never take homework, projects or test and quizzes lightly. Please continue to check the Portal for your child’s assignments or feel free to contact their teachers when in doubt. Hope this helps motivates you to move forward!
Q: Why did the boy only wear one snow boot? A: There was only a 50% chance of snow.

Have a great weekend!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow….It doesn’t bother us!
|
Just a reminder if it snows and we’re out of school, there is class work for the students to do on the Portal if their class was suppose to meet that day. Teachers will be available at intervals (they maybe shoveling or buying milk and bread if they forgot) through the day to answer questions, that may arise for students, through email. This is a great program because it doesn’t add days at the end the year! Remember it is only if your child was suppose to have that class on that day.

The 46th Annual March for Life in Washington D.C
|
Members from our high school community will join others from the Diocese of Fall River to participate in the 46th Annual March for Life in Washington D.C., Jan. 17 - Jan. 19. Our group will march with approximately 600,000 American citizens up Constitution Avenue to the U.S. Supreme Court and Capitol Building on Jan. 18 to promote a pro-life message that upholds the dignity and worth of every human person. While in Washington D.C., we will also visit many historic national monuments. Please keep our members in your prayers.
O God, our Creator, all life is in your hands from conception until death. Help us to cherish our children and to reverence the awesome privilege of our share in creation. May all people live and die in dignity and love. Bless all those who defend the rights of the unborn, the mentally and physically disabled, the poor, the marginalized, the outcasts, the sick, and the elderly. Enlighten and be merciful toward those who fail to love, and give them peace. Let freedom be tempered by responsibility, integrity and morality. Amen.
