BEST IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
Bristol Eliminating Substance Use Together is looking for new coalition members dedicated to making the community a healthier and safer place for our youth!

The BEST Coalition meets every
2nd Thursday of the month, from
3:30 - 4:45 PM. While the BEST Youth Coalition meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7 PM.

Please note - all meetings are currently virtual
 

The Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services department, with the help of local donors, is looking to continue their Holiday Gift Giving program this year, after successfully supporting over 250 local youth last holiday season.
We are seeking gracious individuals and local businesses interested in sponsoring youth and local families this holiday season.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS & EVENTS
Holiday Toy Drive

The Youth & Community Services division is hosting a Holiday Toy Drive on Saturday, December 5th at the Youth & Community Services Building at 51 High Street in Bristol, CT.

The Holiday Toy Drive is being held in partnership with Spare Time Entertainment in Bristol. All toys collected will benefit the holiday Gift Giving Program.

There will be a drive-through drop-off.
Cars will flow into the Youth & Community Services building parking lot from High Street and drop off donations in front of the building where volunteers will unload your car without having to get out. Cars will then proceed to exit onto Bellevue Avenue.
Girls With a Purpose
Starting Tuesday, November 17th
5:30 - 6:45 PM

Calling all female students who are interested in turning experience into leadership! Who have been bullied, been a bully themselves, or simply want to change the way their classmates treat each other. This is for those students who want to have fun and make new friends!
 
This club allows students the opportunity to participate in fun activities that promote a positive school attitude and atmosphere. Learn how to ditch the “drama”, stop rumors from spreading, increase your self-esteem and positive body image and stop bullying in your school. This club requires a full commitment to attending group every week and maintaining club member’s confidentiality.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED: THE 23RD ANNUAL TURKEY SHOOT BASKETBALL CONTEST
On Saturday, November 7th, local Bristol youth and community members participated the 23rd Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest held outside at both Page Park and Stocks Playground basketball courts.

The Turkey Shoot is a basketball foul shooting contests for child/guardian duos competing for a $25 gift card to purchase a turkey along with other great prizes.

The 23rd Annual Turkey Shoot was a huge success with over 60 participants across all of the age divisions and lots of talent.
The competition was fierce but check out the winners of each category below and the exciting prize they took home for their skills on the court:
  • 4-5 years old division winning pair – Kyrie Adams & Mason Stokes
  • 6-7 years old division winning pair – Matthew Achim & Daniella Achim
  • 8-9 years old division winning pair – Amari Walker & Shianne Walker
  • 10-11 years old division winning pair – Lukas Dahn & Jeff Dahn
  • 12-13 years old division winning pair – Naseem Walker-Jenkins and Shianne Walker

Thanks to Price Chopper, the first pair in each age division took home a $25 gift card to purchase a turkey. Raffle prizes and complementary registration basketballs were made possible by the department’s generous sponsors at Dick’s Sporting Goods, ESPN, Firehouse Subs, and Spare Time Entertainment.
