Successful First Family Camp Out at Muzzy Field

We partnered with the Main Street Community Foundation's Broad View Fund to bring free "Pop-Up" events to neighborhood parks in order to strengthen families and neighbors, engage underutilized spaces to enhance visibility and safety, and strengthen the sense of community for all residents.

On Saturday, September 18th, over 100 local community members packed their sleeping bags and pajamas for a night under the stars at Muzzy Field. The Campout was the culminating event to the 15-week series with over 13 events at 12 different park locations around the City.

Participants enjoyed a movie on the big screen, games and activities in the outfield, a light breakfast courtesy of Harvest Bakery, and many were provided with tents for an unforgettable overnight experience at Muzzy Field.

The event represented a collaboration between the city’s Diversity Council, Arts and Culture Commission, and Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services. The afternoon featured salsa lessons, performances, and local Latin food!
