In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Bristol’s Veterans Memorial Boulevard, we invite you to the Centennial Celebration! The day’s events will include an opening and closing ceremony, music, a time capsule, historical stations, era cars, presentations at the various monuments, as well as period games and food truck options.

Schedule for the Day: 
1:00 pm - Opening Ceremony
1:30 pm - Performance by Bristol Public School Students
2:00 pm - Walking Stations / Musical Performances by Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble
4:00 pm - Closing Ceremony
5:00 pm - Centennial Celebration Concludes

Arts and Culture Center Open House
Thursday, October 14
6:00 - 7:30 PM
Tour the Arts and Culture Center (formerly the Montessori School), experience live demonstrations, participate in arts activities, and enjoy time with local artists, instructors, community partners, and residents. Free and open to all. Event made possible by a donation from Bristol Arts & Culture Fund nonprofit. The Arts and Culture Center is located at 472 East Road, Bristol, CT 06010.

Highlights:
• Graffiti artist AJ Harris will be doing a live mural painting throughout the event
• Take-home floral design with Vine & Ivy Flowers
• Maker Stations designed for youth and teens with BPRYCS Art Instructor, Tisa

We're gearing up for Halloween and we need your help to make this year's Halloween extra Spooktacular. On October 23rd, at the Rockwell Park Amphitheater we'll be hosting a kids carnival - here's how you can get in on the fun:

SKYHAWKS VOLLEYBALL
Mondays (11/15 - 12/20)
Ages 12 - 14 - 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Skyhawks Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled program. All aspects of the game are taught to participants through drills and exercises that focus on bumping, spiking, hitting and serving. This program is designed for the beginner to intermediate player.
HALLOWEEN COOKIE DECORATING
Pick Up Thursday 10/28
3:00 - 6:00 pm
We're bringing back our cookie decorating kits and will give you everything you need to create a masterpiece that even Chef Gordon Ramsay would approve of! Each decorating kit will include 5 sugar cookies, frosting and sprinkles to help you create the jack-o-latern or spooky ghost at home. All cookies are baked fresh and provided by our neighborhood friends at ShopRite of Bristol.  Learn More
Co-Ed Flag Football
Fridays (11/5 - 12/17)
3rd - 4th Grade - 6:00 - 7:00 pm
5th - 8th Grade - 7:15 - 8:15 pm
Participants will be introduced to the game of football through work on basic skills such as passing, catching, offense and defense in a safe and fun environment. Teams will be newly formed each week to give participants a chance to socialize with everyone in the program. This program meets at Chippens Hill Middle School.  Learn More

Spencer Brunet
Sound & Lighting Technician

Spencer is a jack-of-all-trades working with our Arts & Culture Division, Recreation Division, and Community Outreach. He is the man behind the scenes operating our showmobile sound and lighting system at many of our department special events as well as community functions including the Mum Festival. Furthermore, Spencer earned this spotlight for coming to the rescue at our 1st Muzzy Field Camp Out event when our sound equipment malfunctioned and overheated. He remained calm, cool and collected and quickly restored the system- saving the event! Spencer will be formally recognized at the Board of Park Commissioners Regular Meeting on Wednesday October 20th at 6pm in the 1st floor meeting room at City Hall. Thank you Spencer!
AQUATICS STAFF RECIEVE AWARD
The Bristol Splash team received $500 from the Manning-Sisson Memorial Fund through the Main Street Community Foundation to support swimmers in need.
