Lauren Bent selected as City’s first Arts and Culture Supervisor

We are pleased to announce the selection of Lauren Bent as the city’s first Arts and Culture Supervisor. Lauren will be responsible for the development of a diverse year round arts and culture program, supporting the work of the City’s volunteer Arts and Culture Commission and management of the community theater program when the Memorial Boulevard Intradistrict Arts Magnet School opens in 2022.

strengthen daily, weekly, and monthly prevention activities.

For the past year, Doug Trillo has committed countless hours to overseeing the renovations at Muzzy Field, working with vendors, developing operational policies, and training staff. Doug takes a great deal of personal pride in the stadium and the hard work has paid off - Muzzy Field has never looked better! For the first time ever the stadium will be hosting our Annual Youth Recognition Awards Night, Bristol Eastern/Central High School Graduation and of course dozens of games and festivities over the summer! Doug has a community first attitude and never hesitates to jump in and offer a hand, regardless of the project!

WATER SAFETY CHALLENGE

To kick off Water Safety Month we invite everyone to participate in our Water Safety Summer Challenge! Participants must register ahead of time and will then pick up their challenge cards to be completed between May 15 - July 15. Challenge cards will be available for pick up at the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center (325 Mix Street) or Youth Services (51 High Street), as well as the BPRYCS Main Office ( City Hall, 111 N. Main Street). There are 9 challenges that must be completed and validated by our aquatics division staff via photo/video proof. All participants are encouraged to use #IPreventDrowningBristolCT to share challenge photos and videos on social media.

ALL HEART PARK PACKS

Bristol All-Heart Park Packs offer a variety of items and equipment that allow you to recreate in the comfort of your own home. The All-Heart Park Packs will allow you to participate in the classic sports and games you love, as well as introduce you to new hobbies and activities. This program is completely FREE to Bristol residents while supplies last.

LEARN TO SWIM

Children as young as 6 months can begin their learn-to-swim journey at one of BPRYCS's three pools. Children who participate in Learn to Swim (LTS) program will receive complimentary membership to the facility for the duration of their lessons. Classes run for 8-weeks. Please note only (1) one parent or guardian is allowed into the spectator area during scheduled swim lessons due to COVID-19 guidelines.

YOUTH SOCCER CLINIC

Participants ages 7 to 14 will learn and practice soccer skills including trapping, passing, shooting, dribbling, heading and goalie techniques. Half and full field matches will be held. Camp is held Monday, June 14 through Thursday, June 17 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Bristol Eastern High School soccer field. Fee is $40.00 for the week.

Performs a variety of duties assisting the Recreation Supervisor, Aquatics Supervisor, Facilities Supervisor, Community Engagement Coordinator, and the department Superintendent with daily operations of a busy, diverse and comprehensive summer BPRYCS department.
