City of Bristol to Partner with the State of CT and Griffin Health to Bring Mobile Vaccine Clinics
to Bristol April 22-25

Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu and the City of Bristol’s Emergency Management Director, Harley Graime announced today that the City of Bristol will be partnering with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and Griffin Health to bring pop-up vaccine clinics to Bristol.

Two Griffin Health vans will be deployed to Bristol and will be located at the pavilion at Rockwell Park at 243 Jacobs Street on Thursday April 22, Friday April 23, and Saturday April 24 from 12 to 6 pm each day. Each van will have between 100 and 125 vaccines for a total of approximately 250 vaccines per day. The clinics will be staffed by Griffin Health personnel and the National Guard. The Moderna vaccine will be administered by Griffin Health nurses.

Bristol resident David “Davy” Tyre selected as new Assistant to the Superintendent of BPRYCS

The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is pleased to announce the selection of Bristol resident David “Davy” Tyre as the city’s new Assistant to the Superintendent. Davy has over a decade of executive assistant/office manager experience at a variety of companies including Thomas Hooker Brewing Company, Jaroop, and Trumbull Marriott.  

In anticipation of his new role, Davy said, “I am extremely excited to join the growing department of Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services and be able to serve my community.”

YOUTH & COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAMS
LEARNING THROUGH BOOKS

Join the Youth & Community Services Division and Parent & Child Program as they explore reading through imaginative play, storytelling, and stimulating activities. Children ages 3-5 will explore sounds, words, and language as stories are read aloud. This is a FREE 8-week reading and storytelling program running from April 28 to June 16, 2021

LET'S TALK ABOUT R.A.C.E.
It's never too late to join the Let's Talk About R.A.C.E. program - we invite all local Middle and High School students who are passionate about advocating for change to participate! This program meets every other Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

AQUATICS & RECREATION PROGRAMS

Sharpen your knife skills, learn new time saving techniques, and create delicious dishes in this one hour class. This is a 4-week program (5/6 - 5/27) that will be offered every Thursday from 6:00 - 7:00 pm virtually via Zoom.

TINY CHEFS

Tiny Chefs provides a fun, exciting and unique atmosphere for children ages 2-7 to develop hands on skills and techniques to be creative within a safe and controlled environment. Program runs Fridays, May 7 to May 28. Ingredients for weekly recipes are dropped off at your home every Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. 

70th ANNUAL PERRY J. SPINELLI FISHING DERBY

Join us at Page Park Pond this Saturday 7:00 - 10:00 am for an exciting morning of fishing family fun! Children should bring their own fishing poles and legal bait. There will be a variety of prizes awarded for fishes caught throughout the morning. This event is free of charge, no pre-registration is necessary.

CO-ED 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL

Boys and Girls ages 9-13 years old will work on skills and play organized 3 on 3 games each week. Program meets on Monday evenings from 8:00-8:45 PM or Saturday's from 11:00-11:45 AM for six weeks.

Celebrate Earth Day and join us at Veterans Memorial Boulevard as we participate in Community Clean Up Day!
Clean up packets are available at City Hall beginning 4/21 and include a t-shirt, garbage bags, a mask, and more.
NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY
THIS SATURDAY (4/24) 10 AM - 1 PM

Bring your unneeded, expired, and unused prescription drugs to our convenient drive through take back location on Meadow St. (behind City Hall). In partnership with the Police dept., we will also be supplying FREE mailable drug take back envelopes to safely dispose of future drugs at no cost.

POSITION: RECREATION INTERN

Performs a variety of duties assisting the Recreation Supervisor, Aquatics Supervisor, Facilities Supervisor, Community Engagement Coordinator, and the department Superintendent with daily operations of a busy, diverse and comprehensive summer BPRYCS department.
