EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
April 2021

Aubrey Minkler
Community Services Coordinator

Please join the BPRYCS department in congratulating Aubrey Minkler, our Community Services Coordinator, for her being selected as April’s Employee Spotlight. In a short 8 months Aubrey has enhanced the role of community services within the City of Bristol. She is not only a valued member of our department but the city as a whole with accolades received not only from her supervisors and colleagues but the Bristol Police Department, Building Department, and Mayor’s Office. On March 20th Aubrey responded to a major accident involving a car driving into a multi-family home which condemned the property and displaced 4 families. Aubrey came out on a Saturday night to be there for Bristol residents at their most vulnerable moment. Aubrey worked deep into the night to rehouse and assist these families- demonstrating why Bristol is the All Heart City!

We're looking for

We are looking for a few good men and women to lead our camps! This is a great opportunity to work with the community, work outdoors, and stay active this Summer!

Facility Update: Muzzy Field
Spring permits are being processed for dozens of field use requests across the park system, including Muzzy, where Park Maintainers Cody Lombardi, Craig Vibert, and Group Leader Todd Anderson are hard at work building the pitcher's mound.
April is Autism Acceptance month and our Aquatics Division is excited to offer Sensory Swim Bags!

"Swimming provides invaluable therapy for children with autism, as well as providing a social outlet for them. Swimming can help an autistic child improve their speech, coordination, social skills, self-esteem, and cognitive processing. Too often children with autism are excluded from sports or have a difficult time because there are too many elements to focus on. Once under water, even in a team setting, a child is alone and doesn’t have to anticipate someone else passing them the ball or be responsible for the success of the team". -ASDF

Ask the front desk staff at Dennis Malone Aquatic Center (325 Mix St.) to try out the Sensory Bags!
