A Message from Pastor Davis

1 Peter 4:17 – “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” The Gospel had freed us from all fear. God the Father loves us to the ends of love, and He has sent His Son to die for us and call us into His kingdom through the rebirth of water and Spirit. Saint Peter views this not as an excuse to sin but as encouragement for godly living. The judgment of the Lord is a real event, and it applies to the household of God. As members of His household, we desire to serve Him.

ELDERBERRIES GATHERING

Wednesday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m.

Olive Garden

3666 Atlanta Hwy.

Athens, Ga. 30606

Dear Church Family,

We’re happy to let you know that your giving envelopes for 2026 are now available for pickup in the Gathering Room. Please stop by after any service to collect yours. If you do not see a box for you please let Harry know or email Nancy, nburger@trinity-athens.org.

Thank you for your continued generosity and faithfulness in supporting the ministry of our church.

Dear Church Family,

The Altar Guild is seeking new volunteers to join our team! This special ministry helps prepare and maintain the sanctuary for worship each week — arranging the altar, caring for linens and vessels, and ensuring everything is ready for our services and holy days.

Whether you’ve served before or are simply looking for a new way to contribute, all are welcome. Training will be provided by Brenda Malueg and

Andrea Brunson. Serving on the Altar Guild is a quiet but meaningful way to support our congregation and honor God through service.

If you’re interested in learning more or would like to volunteer, please sign up on the sign in sheet on the Gathering Room or contact Brenda Malueg.

Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can help make our worship beautiful and meaningful.

We have openings for the following months:

March-April-November-December

Our Tuesday Ladies Bible Study will be meeting Tuesday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. We will be studying Luke with the help of the study "Luke in the Land" by Kristi Mclelland. Kristi uses videos of the Holy Land to help us walk with Jesus in His first century world. We will see where the stories of the Bible took place in the land of Israel.

Ladies of Trinity - our chapter of LWML will be meeting Saturday, February 7th at

10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Come join us in fellowship as we discuss more ways we can support the many ministries here at Trinity Lutheran Church and throughout our district and national church bodies.

If you have any items you would like to donate, let us know and we can post them for you in the newsletter.

On behalf of our TLA team, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has generously purchased gifts from our Amazon Wish List. Your kindness and support mean the world to us and make a real difference in the lives of the children we serve.

Each item you've donated helps us create a more enriching, joyful, and nurturing environment for our little ones. From educational toys to essential supplies, your gifts are already bringing smiles and blessings into our classrooms.

We are truly grateful for your continued love and support. Thank you for being such a vital part of our ministry and for helping us care for our children with such grace and generosity.

With gratitude,

The TLA Staff

Coffee Hour Volunteers Needed

The BCS would like to invite you to take a Sunday and host coffee hour. It does not need to be fancy and only a couple of items are needed. It is nice to have a bite to eat as we socialize with our church friends. Harry takes care of all aspects of the coffee- set up and clean up. There is a yearlong sign-up sheet on the door in the Gathering Room. If you have any questions, please talk to a BCS member. Thank you for considering this fun opportunity.

Aluminum Can Recycling

This is a reminder that Trinity recycles aluminum cans (drink cans only). The receptacles are located in the fenced area behind the Fellowship Hall kitchen. You can’t miss it - there is a sign posted on the gate - just place your bagged cans (squash them if you can, but it’s ok if you can’t). Proceeds go to Trinity Youth Group.
