Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost

bride_groom_bicycle.jpg

Pharisees came up and in order to test Jesus asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them

MEMORIAL ORNAMENTS

Speaking of Christmas tree decorations, if you would like to order a memorial ornament in honor of a loved one this year, you can do so by contacting the Church Office. Memorial ornaments will decorate the Gathering Room Christmas tree during the Advent and Christmas seasons.

This Sunday is Mite Box Sunday! Bring your full Mite Box and take an empty one home.

The LWML's Mite Boxes began in 1942, during the war. The name comes from the Bible story of the widow's offering, found in Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1-4.

Our Mite Box money goes to the FL-GA District first, then 25% of all missionary contributions is given to the National Organization.

The next Mite Box Sunday is November 3rd.

Aluminum Can Recycling

This is a reminder that Trinity recycles aluminum cans (drink cans only). The receptacles are located in the fenced area behind the Fellowship Hall kitchen. You can’t miss it - there is a sign posted on the gate - just toss your bagged cans (squash them if you can, but it’s ok if you can’t). Proceeds go to special projects.
