"REPEAL VCEA!" BILL INTRODUCED
IN THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES
THANK YOU, DELEGATE NICK FREITAS!
Delegate Nick Freitas - Chief Patron
Contact Your Delegate to Join as a Co-Patron

This past week, Delegate Nick Freitas (HOD-30) submitted a bill to repeal the awful Virginia Clean Economy Act that's destroying our forests and farmland (while increasing your monthly electricity bill!)

HB118 will now be sent to a House Committee for hearings on the legislation. We expect it'll be sent to the House Committee on Labor and Commerce overseen by the new Republican Chair - Delegate Kathy Byron. Last year, we worked with Del. Freitas in support of HB2265 to repeal VCEA but the Democrats were in control (elections do matter!) and the Chair of Labor and Commerce and left-wing author of the VCEA Law, Richard "Rip" Sullivan, quickly killed the bill.

We're working closely with a team of experts pulling together the facts about VCEA's impact on Virginia's environment, economy, working families and seniors; and the danger of placing all our future energy needs in the renewable, unreliable basket. We'll be testifying and releasing our results to make the public aware. BUT YOU CAN HELP TODAY!

Contact your House of Delegates member and ask them to support and become a Co-Patron of HB118. And donate to our efforts to Repeal VCEA here!

Thank you!
ON THE ROAD ACCROSS THE COMMONWEALTH

2022 Congressional campaigns are now in full swing (don't you just love Virginia elections every year!). The new 7th CD Republican Committee met this past Saturday (see CD section below) and selected a June primary for the Republican nomination. Prince William Supervisor Yesli Vega and State Senator Bryce Reeves are two candidates that are running to be the GOP nominee. Scroll to RWC section for chance to meet Yesli.

FORUM BREAKFAST WITH
NEW HOUSE SPEAKER
TODD GILBERT POSTPONED

SNOWSTORM - COVID - NEW DELEGATE MEETING
IN RICHMOND POSTPONES GILBERT BREAKFAST

As they say, our Forum Breakfast last week hit the proverbial "perfect storm"! Speaker Gilbert's scheduler called and said he had to be in Richmond on Friday; a massive (at least for NoVA) snowstorm hit us and we've all experienced via family and friends the spike in COVID. We had to postpone last Friday's breakfast and hope everyone received our message. We're working on re-scheduling January's Forum event and will be back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!!

CONTACT YOUR STATE LEGISLATOR!

SUPPORT ANDREW WHEELER FOR SECRETARY OF
NATURAL AND HISTORIC RESOURCES
Governor-elect Youngkin has appointed Andrew R. Wheeler as the next Secretary of Natural Resources for the Commonwealth. His appointment will face approval by the Virginia General Assembly.

Mr. Wheeler is superbly qualified for the position, having served as majority staff director for the US Senate Subcommittee for Clean Air, Climate Change, Wetlands and Nuclear Safety, as chief counsel for the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, as Deputy Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and most recently, as Administrator of the EPA.

Who wouldn't want a man with such extraordinary qualifications to assist the Youngkin Administration in dealing with environmental issues, such as protection of the Chesapeake Bay from storm water runoff produced by the clearcutting of forests and destruction of farmland caused by the massive installation of solar panels authorized by the so-called Virginia Clean Economy Act?

Answer: Democrats and the Left! The New York Times reports,"Virginia Democrats Aim to Block EPA Chief from State Agency".  Mr. Wheeler's sin? He was nominated by and served under President Donald J. Trump. He was even approved by Senator Joe Manchin (D - WVA) during his nomination vote in the US Senate.

Mr. Wheeler takes a common-sense, realistic and balanced approach toward protecting the environment while supporting economic growth. He was even criticized by the Left for shepherding a rule through the EPA which would have required all information in scientific studies supporting EPA's regulations to be made available to the public. Apparently, his critics also dislike the idea of transparency in government.

The Left is up in arms, and has even called him "a threat to anyone who breathes". Such is their disdain for President Trump, Sen. Manchin, and anyone who does not tow the Democrats' party line.

Call or write your State Legislator today, (find your legislator here) and tell him/her that Governor-elect Youngkin was elected to bring his own team to address the challenges facing Virginia, and that the superbly qualified Mr. Wheeler should be confirmed. This is a fight to save Virginia from the extreme Left!
RAMPING UP TO REPEAL VCEA

SUVGOP is working closely with House of Delegates member Nick Freitas (HOD-30, Culpeper) in submitting a bill this session to Repeal VCEA and we need your help!! (See HB 118 Submission Information Above)

  1. Sign the Petition to Repeal VCEA here. Join hundreds of your fellow Virginians in telling our representatives to stop ruining our forests and farmlands.
  2. Contact Your Delegate and State Senator here. The link will provide contact information on who is your House and Senate member (and let you type in your address to find your individual member, even new Delegates). Write them today and ask them to co-sponsor the Repeal VCEA Bill and vote for the legislation.
  3. Learn More and Tell Your Friends and Neighbors! Go to the Repeal VCEA website; watch the SUVGOP slide presentation here from the recent Advance breakout session called "When Wokeism Meets the Kitchen Table - Repealing the Virginia Clean Economy Act"; and share the information with friends, family, neighbors and others concerned about the rising costs of electricity.
  4. And finally, please donate to our effort to educate more and more Virginians about the damage being done by this terrible law. Did you know that Virginia is now the number one state for industrial solar factories (they are not farms!). Over 440 projects in the works with over 160 million toxic (made in China by slave labor) solar panels in Virginia alone!

Thank you for your support!

EVERY PENNY HELPS!
SUPPORT SUVGOP'S ACTIVITIES FOR THE GOP

In the spring of 2018, a broad cross-section of Republicans were concerned about the GOP's success in the Northern Virginia suburbs. With 37% of Virginia's vote, NoVA is important in every election and we wanted to assist all the Republican units in a regional approach to the voters. SUVGOP decided to focus on helping in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties.

SUVGOP implemented numerous region-wide programs, hosted social events and helped dozens of local and statewide candidates. We continue to be a resource for building the Party in the "bluest" part of the Commonwealth for Republicans. However, the work to turn the tide in NoVA has just begun and we need your help!!

If you enjoy the Suburban Republican Weekly, The Forum, "Potluck & Politics", Think Suburbia podcasts, our numerous candidate video ads, Repeal VCEA program, diversity engagement, social media, our new SUVGOP Bookshop or even the monthly Conservative Smokers, we hope you will support SUVGOP with a donation. From $5 to $500, every contribution helps us continue our support of the GOP in NoVA. Thank you!!

SUVGOP Mission Statement
The mission of the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition (SUVGOP) is to support Republican candidates and causes rooted in the fundamental, kitchen-table concerns that matter most to voters in Virginia’s suburban communities – family, vocation, community, and faith.

We believe that the Republican Party’s longstanding championship of limited government makes it best suited to lead in the Commonwealth by ensuring that government at all levels — city, county, state, and national — stays focused on its core functions and performs these activities effectively and in a fiscally responsible manner.
We seek to engage suburban voters across Virginia to promote Republican solutions to their concerns. We share these concerns — from taxes, to transportation, to education, to keeping our neighborhoods and schools safe, to rising health care costs, to cultivating a positive civic culture. We want our neighbors to know that the Republican Party cares about the issues most important to them and has thoughtful and innovative approaches to these issues.

We support policies and leadership at all levels of government that reflect America’s great history, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to freedom.

We, the members of the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition, are Republicans of all ages and backgrounds, united by a commitment to collaboration and dedicated to ensuring that our communities are the best places possible for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. Join us today!
