Dear Thacher Community,

We raise our voices of hope and join our loving, peaceful Jewish and Palestinian families in and outside our Thacher Community to grieve together. We denounce the horrific acts by Hamas and all groups that inflict these atrocities on civilians and others.

Through Dr. Maria Montessori's wisdom, she says, "Everyone talks about peace, but no one educates for peace. In this world, they educate for competition, and competition is the beginning of any war. When educating to cooperate and owe each other solidarity, that day we will be educating for peace."

We are excited to welcome parents to campus during our upcoming Parent/Guide Conferences. There will be options for Zoom or In-person meetings with your child(ren)'s teacher.

Appointments will be available all day Thursday and Friday, October 26 and 27. We will email you when it's your turn to book your conference(s).

Free childcare during your 30-minute conference will be available for Thacher students only. Childcare hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Our Librarian, Kim, is organizing a Scholastic Book Fair to coincide with the Conferences. Discover books for children of all ages, from enchanting picture books to gripping young adult novels. A percentage of all sales directly benefits Thacher's library.

Please spread the word about Thacher's upcoming Open House, a vital event for prospective students and their families to experience the warmth and excellence of our community. We need your help to make it a resounding success.

There is still time to order pizza for the first session that runs until January 10. We are offering regular crust, gluten-free, and cheese-free pizza! Pizza will be delivered to classrooms at lunchtime and served with a piece of fresh fruit.

If you want your child to receive pizza next week, please order before Sunday. The order form closes on October 21.

Our Middle School students sponsor Pizza Wednesdays to fund the class end-of-year Odyssey. Our pizza comes from Comella's in West Roxbury.

The Thacher Soccer Club has been training and competing over the last few weeks. The players have been learning tactics, soccer fundamentals, and the value of teamwork and have been exhibiting a healthy dose of competitive spirit. Coaches Tom and Brian have been more than impressed with the team's progress thus far.

The stalwarts of the defense include Eliette, Evelyn, Lena, Bennett, Harrison, and Heath. Ben, Conrad, Sam, Ollie, and Wyatt control the midfield. JJ, Emmanuel, Thatcher, Conrad, and George have paced the strikers.

The Thacher Soccer Club would like to thank the scorekeepers operating the scoreboard for the games. Thank you, Ava, Isla, and Stella.

One thing that is so special about Thacher is our diversity of cultures. We'd love to celebrate this by enjoying an international potluck this Sunday, October 15th, at 1:00 p.m.

Thacher's Family Network will partner with New England Base Camp for Thacher School days off.

NE Basecamp will be offered for the 23/24 School Year on the following dates: 10/26, 12/18-12/22, 1/2, 2/16, 3/15, 4/11 and 4/12. (Sorry, but NE Basecamp could not accommodate the 10/27 day off.)

The Camp is for children ages five and up. During these days, students will enjoy the facilities at the Camp located on Unquity Road (5 minutes from Thacher). The programs include nature activities, STEM programming, crafts, and more.

The cost is $50 a day per child (9-3:15), and students must bring their snacks and lunch. Please register early!

This year, the TFN is planning monthly coffee meetups for parents to get together and chat. The next one will be held on Friday, November 3, at Steel and Rye in Milton. Please join us right after drop-off. We'll be there until at least 10:30. Grab a drink, a delicious pastry, and some conversation with other parents in our Thacher community!

All parents are invited to join the Thacher Montessori Parents Facebook group. The group's goal is for parents to have a space to share resources, ask questions, and support each other in the community. Join today!
