Travel Guidelines for Massachusetts

As we approach the upcoming holiday weekend, I'd like to bring attention to the state travel guidelines for those families who may be traveling. Please click here to view.

All visitors entering Massachusetts, including returning residents, who do not meet an exemption, are required to:

Low-risk states (no documentation or test needed): Connecticut, District of Columbia, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont

  • For travelers coming from any other state, please note you must quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative PCR COVID-19 test result that has been administered up to 72-hours before your arrival in Massachusetts. If your COVID-19 test result has not been received before arrival, visitors and residents must quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Where to test: Testing sites can be found by clicking here. Many urgent care sites are also doing testing, including many CVS locations. As previously mentioned, it is imperative to let them know you need a PCR test, as some areas may only do antigen testing. Differences on the offered tests may be found on our Re-entry plan under references or under "Nurse's Corner on the Thacher website.

Please plan accordingly. Let me know if your family is traveling, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend.

Warmly,

Nurse Carolynn

Thacher Family Directory

Click the button below to access our 2020/21 Thacher Family Directory. If your contact information isn't in the directory, it is because your Transparent Classroom profile indicates that you opted out.

If your contact information is incorrect, or you want to opt back in, please update your profile by clicking on your name in the upper right corner in your Transparent Classroom portal. (It would also be helpful if you send a short email to Mary letting her know you made a change.) We will publish a new directory next month.
Thacher School Calendar

We encourage families to check the Thacher Montessori School online calendar often. This calendar is continuously being updated and will reflect the most up-to-date information on parent ed opportunities, scheduled days off, and other important events. Due to the current COVID-19 climate, this year's calendar will be updated monthly and not set for the entire school year in advance.

All upcoming events will also be on the website and published in Notes Home.
Picture Day - Wednesday 10/14
Picture day is Wednesday, October 14 - rain or shine.

Remote students are welcome to drop in any time between 9:00 and noon to have their photos taken. No group photos this year but we will design a collage for each classroom that includes everyone.

Orders can be placed online or by returning the paper order forms.
Spanish Position Available

Thacher is in the process of looking for a new Spanish teacher to join our staff. It is a part-time position - 15 hours, 3-days per week, Tuesday - Thursday.

If you know of anyone interested in teaching Spanish to our 1st through 8th grade students, please have them contact [email protected].
Thacher Diversity Committee
A Note from the Thacher Diversity Committee

Now that the school year is well underway, we would like to introduce the Thacher Diversity Committee's section of Notes Home. Each week, you can look forward to receiving information about diversity, equity, and inclusion in this section. We plan to keep you informed by providing relevant news, quotes, resources and "food for thought". We'll start off by sharing this quote by Maya Angelou:

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry,
and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry
are equal in value no matter what their color.
- Maya Angelou

We look forward to celebrating Thacher's "rich tapestry" through education, communication, acknowledgement, peace, grace, and courtesy.

Thanks to all who were able to participate in a lovely socially-distanced walk Thursday morning at Blue Hills--hopefully the first of many while the weather holds!
