Note from Head of School
In a recent NPR podcast, Michelle Obama discusses her approach to raising children. She claims, "I'm not raising children, I'm raising adults." In the same way that Montessori philosophy encourages children's independence, she encourages parents to "step back and let your kids be."
I think you will recognize, as I did, the many parallels between Montessori teachings and Obama's hands-off approach to parenting.
See you at the picnic tomorrow!

Congratulations
AMI Primary Consultant, Jennifer Shields, spent this past Monday and Tuesday visiting Thacher's Children's House for our three-year recognition visit. Jennifer observed the classrooms, spent quality individual (and group) time with the teachers and had lovely conversations with the administration.
The visit was a tremendous success, and congratulations to Cassandra, Brittany, Priya, and their teams for providing Thacher students with a high-fidelity Montessori education!

Update on Fall Viruses
As anticipated, the usual fall viruses have returned throughout the Northeast region.
Just to remind you, our website's Nurse's Corner contains information about when students may come to school and when they should stay home. There are several fact sheets that reference specific illnesses. This particular fact sheet should answer your questions about the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
I extend my utmost gratitude for being such amazing parents, staff, and students. You are the reason I look forward to coming to school each day.
Please feel free to contact nurse Carolynn Moore at [email protected] or 617-361-2522 ext. 36 with any questions or concerns.
Nurse Office Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
