Professional Photographer on Campus | Wednesday, Sept 20

Get ready to show your school spirit because a professional photographer is coming to Thacher. On Wednesday, September 20, Patrick O'Connor will spend the day capturing the vibrant and spirited faces of Thacher students, and staff. You might see Patrick and his team at arrivals.

If students want to wear their school t-shirts and spirit wear, we welcome it.

If you have opted out of having your child's photo published, we will exclude them from any photos.
Important Notice from the Nurse
I hope everyone has had a great start to this new school year. My name is Carolynn Moore, typically called "Nurse Carolynn"!

Please take some time to check out "Nurse's Corner" on the front page of the Thacher website. Here, you will find a wealth of information, including when to keep your students at home and when they may return in the event of an illness.

If your student will be absent, please include me in the email to your teacher. In addition to checking attendance daily, I closely monitor what is circulating in our community, both in the school and local towns and cities. Knowing why a student is absent is very helpful. Unfortunately, most viruses spread while individuals have no symptoms, but I am happy to say that our staff does a GREAT job of having me screen a student when they don't seem themselves or develop symptoms during the school day.

The first year a student attends school is typically met with increased colds and viruses, with the average number being 8-12 instances. As alarming as this sounds, it is normal and typically expected, no matter how much we wash our hands and take precautions. The great news is that this only lasts for a while! Here is a helpful article by Steve Silvestro, MD, on first-year school illnesses.

When your student has their yearly physical, please send me a copy of their "School/Camp Form." Occasionally, I receive a "Medical Summary," which the state of MA will not allow me to accept. You will know it is the correct form if it has a note that states, "This student can participate in school and camp without restrictions or with the following restrictions." It will be signed by the person who performed the exam and will include immunizations, a lead screen value, and a signature (electronic or written). All physicals on file must be less than a year old, and all health care management forms are valid for one year from the date the physician and parent sign it.

If your child has a chronic or acute health care condition, please make sure we have connected so I can have what is needed to manage their needs, which will improve their health and attendance.

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren). I am in my office daily from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. should you have questions or concerns!
