Dear Thacher Community,

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all of our families as we round out the first full week of the 2022-23 school year. It was wonderful to greet the students each day, and as I walked down the hallways and into the classrooms this week, it was apparent that the children (and adults) were happy to be back and settling into a routine. The school is again humming with activity, and we are on our way to a successful school year.

Enjoy the weekend, and we look forward to greeting your children (and you!) on Monday.

Parents of Upper Elementary students might notice that picture day falls the same day students go to Nature's Classroom. We plan to take your child's and the class photo before the bus to Nature's Classroom departs.

Students may only be released to adults who have been approved by their parents. If you've joined a carpool or have a new sitter, please email Sharyn. She will add them to your Transparent Classroom 'Approved Adults' list.

The school's turf field got a touchup this summer when our contractor, Ideal Turf Solutions, pulled back the turf, repaired the substructure, and then cleaned, sanded, and brushed the surface. Our field is in excellent condition and ready for the games to begin!

Wednesday was a busy day at Thacher when a large crane delivered six new air conditioning units to the roof. A large utility shed was also delivered and installed to increase the school's storage space. Thank you to our contractors, C & S Refrigeration, and Post Woodworking, for making this all happen!

You may have also noticed that speed bumps are being installed in our parking to ensure the safety of our community. One is already in, and the others will be installed shortly.

And finally, coming up in the next couple of weeks, you will see new student benches at the front of the school and large picnic tables on the elementary playground.

Vicky Varnum, our Business Manager, her husband, and their kids are riding 100 miles in Cape Cod next weekend to benefit the American Lung Association. Vicky and the kids have asthma and are also riding in memory of their grandmother, who passed away from lung cancer.
