Thacher News

Picture Day - Wednesday 9/30

Picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 and the photographers at Coffee Pond have new protocols in place to keep everyone safe.

We are inviting all of our remote students to drop in any time between 9:00 and noon to have their photos taken. We will have to skip the classroom group photos this year but will design a collage for each classroom that includes everyone.

Orders can be placed online or by returning the paper order forms that were sent home earlier this week.

Reminders from Nurse Carolynn Moore

Flu shots are required for all Massachusetts students by the Department of Public health and must be administered by December 31, 2020. If evidence of the inoculation is noted on a physical that you have recently submitted, no other paperwork is needed. If you have yet to receive a flu shot, please submit documentation of the inoculation from the provider who administered it.

If you travel outside of the state, please let Nurse Carolynn know. Depending on the location, you may be asked to quarantine for 14 days or receive a negative Covid-19 test prior to returning to Thacher per the MDPH travel regulations

If you are recommended for a Covid-19 test, please note that only evidence of a negative PCR test is accepted. An antigen test cannot be accepted unless it is accompanied by a PCR negative test, as well.

Spanish Position Available

Thacher is in the process of looking for a new Spanish teacher to join our staff. It is a part-time position - 15 hours, 3-days per week, Tuesday - Thursday.

If you know of anyone interested in teaching Spanish to our 1st through 8th grade students, please have them contact [email protected].

Thacher Family Network (TFN)

The Thacher Parent Council (TPC) has a new name and a new email address! We are now the Thacher Family Network (TFN). We feel that this name better describes us and reflects our entire community. Please check out the TFN section of the website for more updates, or email TFN Coordinators Vanessa Holroyd and Carolyn Clark at [email protected].

Thank you to everyone who made this week's online meet-and-greet for their cohort. We had a great time meeting new families, and seeing returning families again. If you were not able to make it, we hope that there will be more opportunities throughout the year to connect.

This year the Thacher Family Network will be supporting families and the school in creative ways that reflect our current times and the needs of all families attending Thacher, whether online or in-person. If you would like to be included on the list for our upcoming Family Network Zoom where we will discuss how we can stay connected and support our community and school, please email Vanessa and Caro at [email protected].

We are putting together a Thacher Families Map that we hope will assist you in connecting with families who live in your neighborhood. More details to follow.

We are putting together an all-school Family Directory and will make it available to all families asap.

If you want your classroom student or parent information before then, it is always accessible in your Transparent Classroom Parent Portal. Click on your child's name and then select either Directory or Classmates.

Please update your contact information and preferences in Transparent Classroom. Your contact information will be available to the Thacher Community unless you opt out before Tuesday, September 29.
