10/3 - 5:00 pm

Adolescent Parent Education
10/2 & 10/3 - 4:00 pm

Upper Elementary Parent Ed
Meet with your child's lead guide for an informative discussion about the curriculum, as well as an exploration of Montessori philosophy and practices.

Adolescent Program Parent Ed
Instead of the traditional Parent Education Night experience, the Adolescent Program team would like to offer you one of two opportunities to learn about AP pedagogy and to ask important questions about the class as a whole. These walking tours will occur at The Wakefield Estate, a place that plays a vital role in the Adolescent program. Our goal is to educate families about what the Wakefield Estate is and why we use it weekly.

Free childcare is available for Thacher students. Please send a snack for your child.

Pizza Wednesday

It's not too late to order pizza for your child for upcoming Wednesday's. Parents have a choice of gluten-free or regular dough pizza. (Gluten-free pizzas are thinner and smaller and priced accordingly on the order form.) Orders must be placed by Sunday for pizza delivery next week.

Please place one order for the whole session that runs from 9/25 - 1/29. Lunch includes pizza and fresh fruit. Lead Guides will provide water as a beverage.

Visiting Author, Peter H. Reynolds - 9/30

Renowned children's author, Peter H. Reynolds is visiting 1st through 8th graders in the school gym on September 30.

Parents may purchase autographed books directly from the author's website. (When ordering a book, please choose "in-store pickup option" in the "Peter H. Reynolds autographed section" and give Thacher School as your address.) Children will receive their books in their classrooms the week of September 30th.

Vanessa
Dear Thacher Families,

As this year's Parent Council coordinators, Vanessa and Kelly and I would like to welcome you to the incredible parent community. We hope that you enjoyed the picnic and have settled into a comfortable routine.

As we get used to schedules, packed lunches, and all the amazing options available for the kids, we would like to highlight the options for adult engagement at Thacher. Below are the current Parent Council Committees that support, build and enhance family life at Thacher...please email the respective contact to join a committee (we need you!) or feel free to email the Council Coordinators to add your new ideas!

Have a great year, and we hope to see you at the next event!

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Gala Committee: This group coordinates the yearly Thacher Gala to be held on February 8th, 2020. Volunteers are needed for: theme decisions, donation requests, silent auction organizing, and decorating on the day! This is a great group to join if you want to have a major impact in fundraising and you like the idea of being done volunteering by February;)
Contact: Vanessa and Caro: [email protected]

Events Committee: Super fun planning group for the Around the World Brunch and the end of year Carnival (yahoo dunk tank!) This is a great committee to be on if you like to plan parties and want to volunteer once, towards the end of the year.
Contact: Jess McDaniel: [email protected]

Diversity Committee: Join this group to connect with other parents/caregivers interested in diversity, equity and inclusion at Thacher. Contact:Carolyn Villers: [email protected]

Family Connections Committee: Help to organize carpooling, family buddies for new families, morning coffees, book clubs, clothes swaps and more! This is a great committee to join if you want to add your thoughts for new volunteering ideas too! Or you may want to be on a mailing list (and may not have time for much more!) for conversations around community and support at Thacher; anything is possible!
Contact: Caro Bihldorff: [email protected]

Staff Appreciation Committee: This group runs the staff appreciation week in May 2020, and organizes small monthly 'thanks' (cookies, meals, etc.) through out the year. The Staff Appreciation committee also helps to organize the end of year gratitude gift to all Thacher Staff from the Parent Council. This is a great committee to be on if you want to do little things with a huge impact for the staff!
