Thacher's popular Pizza Wednesdays is returning! The first session starts October 11 and runs until January 10. You are welcome to order pizza for students in all classes - pizza will be delivered to classrooms at lunchtime and served with a piece of fresh fruit.

Our Middle School students sponsor Pizza Wednesdays to fund the class end-of-year Odyssey. Our pizza comes from Comella's in West Roxbury.

Autumn is here, and we are looking for family volunteers to help clean the garden beds in preparation for the winter. Volunteer hours are Monday - Thursday between 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. 

Please check in at the front desk when you arrive.

If your child was absent on picture day, or if you want a retake, our retake day is scheduled for November 9.

As in every community, we have seen sporadic viruses of what is typically expected at this time of year. I always keep my finger on the pulse of what is happening in our surrounding towns and cities, and one of the viruses pediatricians report seeing an uptick in this last month is Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease (HFMD).

Nurse’s Corner on the Thacher website has a fact sheet about HFMD and many other fact sheets, including a reference as to when to keep your child home from school and when they may return. Click here for another, more extensive resource for HFMD, which explains the transmission, prevention, and treatment of symptoms. 

As a reminder, Thacher’s policy for keeping a student home is for any temperature of 99.5 F or over. Please let me know the nature of an illness when your student is out so I may continue to keep an eye on what is prevalent.

The Wellness and PE classes of Elementary and Middle School focus on utilizing teamwork and collaboration to complete a given objective. Students work on physical Team Challenges, collaborating and problem-solving to achieve a common goal. All classes successfully “Crossed the River," navigated outer space in “Spaceships," and conquered the “Hula-Hoop” challenge.

The students of Children’s House have been exploring the Gymnasium space while navigating balancing courses, tossing and kicking different sizes and textures of sports balls, dancing to music, and learning simple yoga poses.

This year, the TFN is planning monthly coffee meetups for parents to get together and chat. The first one will be held on Friday, October 6th, at Steel and Rye in Milton. Please join us right after drop-off. We'll be there until at least 10:30. Grab a drink, a delicious pastry, and some conversation with other parents in our Thacher community!
