TODAY - FRIDAY, APRIL 24th!
1:30 p.m.
LIVE on Zoom
2020 SAR President
Tom Clark invites you to join him and a panel of experts for our next President's Round-table event today:
This week's conversation will begin with the Commissioner of the Washington State Employment Security Department talking about the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) for contractors and self employed individuals that opened this week.
Then, we'll talk with a local economist from the region's oldest national bank for a wider view on the financial burdens our fellow business owners are facing right now, and how the myriad loan/grant programs are making a difference in our community.
We'll wrap up the roundtable, and the week, with a conversation between a few local brokers who know change is a constant in the arc of a real estate career. Real estate brokers are resilient business owners who associated themselves more than a hundred years ago to share burdens - whatever they might be.
President Tom's guests will be:
- Suzan "Suze" LeVine
Commissioner, Washington State Employment Security Department
- Steve Scranton
Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer & Economist, Washington Trust Bank
- Corrie Jo Anderson
Windermere Spokane - North
- Mike Crowley
Owner/broker, Spokane Home Buyers
Questions may be emailed in advance to:
[email protected], or asked live via chat during the event on Friday.

LAST WEEK'S ROUNDTABLE
Washington REALTORS® Public Policy Director
Bill Clarke, Washington REALTORS ® Government Affairs Director
Nathan Gorton, and STCU Business Development Officer
Jane Larson joined 2020 SAR President
Tom Clark at the Round-table, last week.
The group talked about how the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance was (then) coming together and soon to be made available to members to claim online. We also went behind the scenes to understand the process by which REALTORS® became an "essential business (with restrictions)" back in March.
The video of that conversation is online here - it's about 50-minutes long:

NEW!
Washington Governor Jay Inslee addressed Washingtonians from Olympia in a live video address, Tuesday evening.
The governor said it is unlikely many restrictions under the "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order will be modified before May 4.
Rather, this plan is intended to be a framework for the loosening of restrictions contingent on a steady decrease of the spread of COVID-19.
"It will look more like the turning of the dial than the flip of a switch," Inslee said in the address. "We're going to take steps and then monitor to see whether they work or if we must continue to adapt."
The governor's office released
a five page policy brief, Washington's Recovery Plan (pictured above) at the time of the address.
Washington REALTORS
® makes it easy for you to share with your clients what you can and cannot do as a real estate professional under the governor's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order.
If you need something to help you and your team comply with the rule, this is it.
If you need something to help you push back against a colleague or client who asks you to do more than you should, this is it.

Updated April 1
Professional photographers and staging professionals were added to the list of essential workers, this week. Still, these, too, have restrictions of what they can and cannot do for you.
How do you keep track of who can do what?
No single document can answer every question when it comes to how you should conduct yourself as a real estate broker in Washington State right now.
Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline attorney Annie Fitzsimmons does a great job in sharing the Frequently Asked Questions she's getting - and her answers to them - in this single document.

Free Virtual Listing Presentation
|
Historically, many agents delivered listing presentations in person at the kitchen table.
With COVID-19, that is not possible, but RPR has a way to do the next best thing -- deliver a customized, branded, virtual listing presentation and then use GoToMeeting, Zoom, Google Hangouts or even the Facetime feature on your phone to have the conversation you would normally have in person.

City Librarians Take the Call
|
With its public libraries temporarily closed, the city has redeployed more than a dozen library employees to staff a new, regional helpline that will aid residents and businesses in navigating the complex web of assistance programs sprouting up to alleviate the economic fallout caused by the coronavirus.
The financial helpline can be reached at (509) 625-6650 and will operate Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offer assistance to any individual or business in the area.
