Zoom offers a wealth of resources to help you become a proficient convener or participant on the service - find them online here.

NEW!

Professional photographers and staging professionals were added to the list of essential workers, this week. Still, these, too, have restrictions of what they can and cannot do for you.

How do you keep track of who can do what?

No single document can answer every question when it comes to how you should conduct yourself as a real estate broker in Washington State right now.

Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline attorney Annie Fitzsimmons does a great job in sharing the Frequently Asked Questions she's getting - and her answers to them - in this single document.

NEW!

In response to the current health crisis, NAR is funding 2-months of access to Members TeleHealth at no cost to our members, via the Right Tools, Right Now program.

Members TeleHealth provides access to a network of more than 2,300 board-certified physicians, who can address non-emergency medical issues via smartphone, tablet or computer.

Enrollment in the NAR-funded benefit is limited, so we ask that you check first with your insurance provider, even if it's Medicare, as you may already have access to telemedicine.

In light of the challenges presented by COVID-19  , and its impact on the real estate industry, NAR is taking steps to support members through these uncertain times.

The  Right Tools, Right Now initiative, which was activated once before in 2009, makes new and existing NAR products and services available for  FREE or at significant discounts - right now - and is available to all REALTORS®.

The program includes products, resources and services from all areas of the Association, including:

Open House Weekend - Postponed

POSTPONED!

The SAR Communications Committee, at its March meeting this week, decided unanimously to postpone indefinitely the Spokane REALTORS® 10th Annual Open House Weekend, scheduled for April 25-26, 2020.

The committee, necessarily, takes this action to comply with the governor's ongoing "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order and continuing concern over the continuing COVID-19 global pandemic.

"It was clear that going forward with the event as scheduled was not an option," said Committee Chair Laura Branning. "We're disappointed to have to postpone this event but it's important to point out that we haven't cancelled it. This gives us something to look forward to - perhaps late summer or early fall when we can all get out of our houses again!"

County Property Tax Deadline Extended

Spokane County property owners now have an additional month and a half to pay their property taxes due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Spokane County Treasurer's Office, which collects taxes on behalf of every government in Spokane County, including cities, fire districts and school districts, has extended the tax collection deadline from April 30 to June 15.

Form 22FM - Force Majeure

Many real estate attorneys now recommend you begin using Form 22FM in your contracts to manage risk under Force Majeure (an event or effect that can be neither anticipated nor controlled) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Parties to an existing purchase and sale agreement should consider amending their agreement to include Form 22FM.

Buyers and sellers who are not yet under contract, should consider using Form 22FM with new agreements for the foreseeable future.

Form 22FM (Force Majeure and Closing Addendum) is currently available on ZipForms and Transaction Desk."

Washington REALTORS Legal Hotline attorney Annie Fitzsimmons offers this five minute video with her advice on using this form in your business:

FEE RELIEF

Your second-quarter MLS Fee was due at the end of March .

HOWEVER - your SAR Board of Directors, meeting in emergency session, last week, approved one-time fee relief because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

This gives all members a 60 day extension on this deadline.

While MLS Fees remain due and payable now, no one will be cut off for non-payment until after May 31st.
