SAR Quarterly Membership Meeting

SAR photo

Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline attorney Annie Fitzsimmons (pictured above and below) brought two classes to Spokane, this week, as part of the Spokane Association of REALTORS® Education Excellence series and Quarterly Membership meeting.

The morning class was Don't get Whacked by the WACs; the afternoon class was Is It Friend or Faux - Real Estate Fraud Schemes You Need to Know About.

Those who attended both classes picked up 6.5 clock hours.

The event, at CenterPlace Event Center in Spokane Valley, attracted a crowd of about 200 members.

Annie's Legal Hotline is among the top member benefits in Washington REALTORS®.

Annie is smart, fast, and free to members!

Use the Legal Hotline just four times and you will pay for your membership!

Members can access the hotline by emailing legalhotline@warealtor.org or by calling and leaving a message at 1-800-562-6027.

Five Spokane REALTORS® were named to REALTOR® Emeritus status at the Quarterly Membership Meeting.

These members represent the summit of experience in our industry, have weathered most every market condition one can imagine, and still come out smiling - as the photo proves.

The REALTOR® Emeritus program is a special membership status honoring those REALTORS® who have maintained their membership for 40 years or more.

Emeritus members receive a certificate and pin to show their status, payment of National Association dues is waived for the remainder of their membership, and they are exempt from the Code of Ethics Training requirement.

Our luncheon guest speaker was Meg Winchester, President & CEO of VisitSpokane, the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau (pictured above and below).

SAR photo
Meg shared that the region welcomed 9.44 million visitors last year, who spent $1.3 billion into our local economy, which supported 12,492 jobs.

Spokane tourism created $100.8 million in local tax revenue. From that, local homeowners realized over $1,000 in household tax relief.

SAR Changes

SAR photo

Perhaps you've noticed that the gas station near the SAR has doubled its size in recent weeks, adding a second bank of pumps to the east (see photo above).

This change removed the overflow parking lot SAR members and guests had been using, and increased traffic through the SAR main parking lot.

In response to these impacts, your association Board of Directors did two things: we installed a fence along our south property line (this stops drive-through traffic), and purchased the property to the east to be paved soon (this adds back overflow parking).

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact the association's Executive Vice President Rob Higgins via email here or by phone at  326-9222.
